Between 200 and 300 Rumely Officials and Agents Attended Welcome Banquet of Commercial Club.
(Continued from Page One.)
"The Cremation of Sam Magee," written by Robert Service, rne Canadian poet. A paper was distributed by the Northern "bunch" which contains some snappy remarks relating to the possibilities in Canada. Lee M. Rumely, president of the
Rumely Products company, said" it was with great pleasure that the visitors inspected the Gaar-Scott and Robinson plants as they will contribute extensively to the success of the Rumely Products company. He stated the reasons for making the trip and inspecting the various factories in the Rumely corporation. "Besides knowing the talking points of the goods to sell them, to be a good salesman a man must know the history, the human skill and the effort that are put in the work." He also gave some of the reasons that the Rumely company wants competition. "Competition brings forth the best efforts of a company and tends to raise the principals and standards of their men." Kelly's Address. The welcome address to the party was given by Robert L. Kelly, president of Earlham. He greeted the men .as farmers, business men, scientists and philanthropists. He said that the Rumely men were always welcome to all the privileges that the city affords. "It exhilerates us to have you here," 'said Mr. Kelly, "as Rumely men represent the Twentieth Century methods of doing business." " The A. J. Rumely, B. T. Skinner and C. A. LaFever were called on for responses. The toastmaster was S. E. Swayne, president of the Commercial club. Fred Kennedy gave several readings that were highly appreciated. Music was furnished by the Apollo club and Runge's orchestra. An excellent banquet was served by the Women's Auxiliary of the Y. M. C. A.

Realistic. "How did the moving pictures of the siding turn out?" -Oh. splendidly. They caught th hUi when she was knocked senseles by being hit with an old shoe, ro thai it is just as natural as life." Chicago Ileeord-Herald.

BEFORE THE CAMERA. The Best Pose, as a Rule, Is For the Three-quarter Face. How very few people really know how to sit for a photograph! Eveiy face has Its weak points, and these, unfortunately, have a way of cropping up in a picture aud ruining the effect. Of course a photograph should be absolutely lifelike, but at the same time one naturally prefers to look one's best Scarcely one face in a hundred has features perfect enough to promise a satisfactory photograph in profile, for this pose brings any little defect into the foreground. For a full face picture a sitter must possess bne eyes, above all things. If they are good the pose will be a success, even if the other features are lacking in comeliness. If one has any pronounced defects to hide, the three-quarter face is really the happiest way to be photographed. This position enhances the charms of the beautiful and tones down the irregularities of the plain face. It Is never well to be photographed In a hat distinctly modern style, for in a year or so the picture is ruined by the old fashioned headgear. But a picture hat such as those worn by the Gainsborough women makes a most picturesque setting for a beautiful face, and this, of course, is never out of fashion. London Answers.
The Corinthian Canal. The four centuries between the Panama canal's first conception and its completion are by no means a record in the annals of canal construction. The completion in 1893 of the canal across the isthmus of Corinth was the finish of a scheme for which the first survey was made in the year GOO B. C, when Periander employed Egyptian engineers to carry out the work. Nero actually commenced work along the site of the present canal, but at his death it was abandoned, and the project was not revived until 1882. and this though the total length of the canal is under four miles.
