writes letter which may be of great interest to Skin Sufferers of this city. Richmond, Ind. I have been cured of one of the severest and most obstinate cases of eczema that mortal could possibly be afflicted with. My case dates back ten months ago. My hand has swollen to twice its normal size, and the itching, burning sensation was almost unendurable. My finger nails came off. I could not sleep and had no appetite. Could not feed or dress myself. A number of persons who saw my hand shook their heads and said I had blood poison. I was seriously alarmed and thought of going to the hospital. In looking over my evening paper I was fortunate enough to note the D. D. D. ad. I went at once to my druggist. He was amazed and told me I had one of the worst cases of eczema he had ever looked at. But he told me he knew of some bad cases that had been cured and entirely cured by the D. D. D. eczema remedy. After the first two or three applications of D. D. D. I found to my utter and very agreeable surprise a marked improvement. After using the third small bottle my hand, wrist and arm had a clean now soft skin almost without scar or blemish. Any afflicted as I was and so miraculously cured, may address me and learn more of this wonderful remedy, D. D. D., and what it did for me. JOHN H. CAMPBELL, Ex-Soldier of the Civil War, 1534 Main street. So many convincing statements, similar to the above, have been made to us privately by sufferers from aggravated skin diseases to whom we have sold the D. D. D. Prescription, that we feel bound to give it our unqualified endorsement. Thistlethwaites Drug Stores, 8th & N. E, 8th and S. E. and 6th and Main. WEATHER FORECAST FORJHE ASKING Government Will' Send the Weather Prediction to Homes by Mail.
Business men and citizens of Richmond, residents of Wayne county, and in fact all towns between Richmond and Indianapolis, can secure the official Washington weather forecast by applying to Prof. B. W. Kelly, head of the department of physiography at the local high school. Prof. Kelly was informed today by the federal authorities that the equipment for supplying applicants with copies of the weather forecast had been sent him. All residents of the city who want the forecast need only send their names to Prof. Kelly, care of the high school, or telephone their applications to the principal's office. The Washington forecast made on advices from the stations in Indiana is received in Richmond between 8 and 8:30 o'clock in the morning, and will be sent to business houses on the eleven o'clock mail delivery. Residents who want the forecast will receive it on the afternoon delivery. To Supply Towns. Owing to the train schedule from Indianapolis east, none of the towns between Richmond and Indianapolis can receive the forecast from Indianapolis. The Richmond office will supply the towns with the forecast three hours before Indianapolis can do so. Seventeen business houses in Richmond now receive the forecast from Cincinnati. This will be discontinued and the local office will supply the service. The forecasts will be printed on cards here as soon as the weather prediction is received from Washington. The service is free, the only condition being that merchants display the cards in tin receptacles furnished for this purpose by the government.
YOUNG LADIES WRITE DR. HARTMAN
. In my answers to correspondents published recently, one was to a young lady who had written me concerning pimples and blackheads that were spoiling her complexion. I undertook to give this young lady some advice, concealing her name of course. DR. S. B. HARTMAN The publication of my advice on this subject has brought me a shower of letters from young ladies. Held on to the Bills. promise minstrel man says that not long ago an attache of his show -was sent out In a certain town to give some handbills or heralds to boys for distribution. The man found only one boy willing to work. He didn't deem It necessary to explain to the boy that the bills were to be distributed about town. He took It for granted that the boy knew. The youngster took the printed slips of paper, and the man gave him a quarter and left. Half an hour later the showman chanced to pass along the street and saw the boy standing on the sidewalk, crying. "What's the matter?" asked the man. The boy gave a couple of final sobs and. wiping his eyes on his sleeve, said: "A man Jlst come along an took one of my bills." New York Telegraph.
Green Scum of the Nile. "Nile green is an opaque green," said a traveler. "It isn't the green of a wave breaking in the sun. It's the green of the scum that floats on duck ponds. Every year about the middle of April the Nile becomes covered with a green scum, a genuine duck pond scum. It strikes Khartum about April 20, and it floats on down to Cairo a solid scum that Is often 500 miles long without a break. This scum is made of minute lives, algae. It has an offensive smell. It is, in fact, as offensive to the nose as to the eye. How green the Nile is then! On account of this scum the expression. Nile green, arose. But it isn't the waters of the Nile that are green. No; they are always muddy. It Is the scum." Paying Him In Kind. 'Tie took Jane out boating and rocked the boat." "What did Jnne do?" "She waited until they reached the stone pile ou the way home. SWORDS OF JAPAN.
.'fslialous Rites Fellow Every f Their Making. The sword making of Japan is perhaps the most curious in the whole world. In that country swords saM to be equal to those of Toledo or Damascus are made by a special series of processes, but a feature of the Industry is the religious ceremonial that accompanies every process. On the walls of the huts in which the work is done are representations of the god of the sword makers and the chief goddess of the Shintos. There are also bits of paper and wisps of straw, charms to keep away evil spirits. No female is allowed to enter the place, as the presence of women is supposed to be condacive to the appearance of demons, who would certainly bring disaster to the sword's mission. Prayer is offered before the work begins, and various religious rites must be performed before any one of the swords can be declared to have been well and truly made. The last thing that takes place after the polishing and sharpening of the swords is the offering of them one by one to the sword god to be blessed. The weapon is placed in front of the kakemona on the wall, with an offering of saki. rice and sweetmeats, after which prayer scrolls are read and a blessing upon the work is Invoked. London Globe.
