H Has Felt Them. Any small boy will tell you that even leather slippers may be felt. Philadelphia Record.
The annual meeting of the board of control of the Wernle Orphans' home was held yesterday at the orphanage and resulted in the election of the following officers to succeed themselves: President, the Rev. A. J. Feeger; secretary. Frank Kehlenbrink; treasurer. John Schultz. and financial secretary, the Rev. J. Beck, all of this city. The contract for the construction of a septic tank was let. This improvement is the last in a number of important ones constructed in the last few homes to make the institution a model one in every respect from a sanitary standpoint. The report of the treasurer showed finances in a substantial condition. Twelve orphans were received in the last Quarter. Miss Margaret Brumm, of Dayton, O., was called as instructor of the primary department of the school.
The report of the meeting of the county commissioners Monday evening, on the redecoration of the interior of the court house, has been misconstrued by some persons. The report stated that Haner and Fahlsing. well known local contractors, were not given the contract because of the inferior material used by that firm. It was notj meant that this firm used inferior ij&fla!, but that the commissioners' Voard decided that the method of the Indianapolis contractor, whose bid was successful, in applying the fresco was perhaps a better one. The paint and workmanship of the local contractors was as good as that of the Indianapolis contractor, the commissioners believed.
