jThe dismissals were made Jujy 10, ! 1905, by Robert T. Devlin, U. S. attorney at San Francisco, upon orders issued by acting attorney general Jay, which was a few months after the Harriman contributions were alleged to have been made. These suits were not only dismissed bnt the orders were inade absolute, and not without prejudice toa new suit, called the Harriman ttnerger case." Dover Takes the Stand.
Elmer Dover, of Tacoma, Wash., secretary to the national committee of 1904 and once private secretary to
Senator Itanna, of Ohio, testified that
he had no personal knowledge of contributions to the Roosevelt campaign
Ithat year, except one he made in be-
fhalf of the family of Senator Hannah. (He did not mention the amount. Dov-
ler produced a list of contributors to ;the 1904 campaign fund, alleged to fhave been prepared by C. N. Bliss. He ,Tefused to permit the document to apipear as part of his testimony, declaring it was full of errors and inaccuracies." ! Dover said that in many instances initials and abbreviations were listed 'instead of full names,, and there were rmany repetitions. The document, he Htsserted, had been in storage in Chileago since 1904. ' The list contained records of contributions from J. P. Morgan's comipany, and from G. W. P. Initials which Mrl Dover said he thought stood for !G. ' W. Perkins. Chairman Clapp said JtheVist would be accepted "for what it is worth." i Dover said the list was made by A. IE. Fisher, formerly his secretary, but now in the employ of G. B. Cortelyou in New York. The list contains entries of contributions credited to H. H. uR. and" J. D. W., which were immediately recognized as being identical with the exceptions of one letter of Jthe combined initials of H. H. Rogers and J. D.Archbold.
CULPEPPER, Va., Oct. 18. In the presence of a representative assemblage, including veterans of both the Union and Confederate armies, a monument commemorating the valor of the soldiers of Pennsylvania who are buried in the National Cemetery here was dedicated today. The memorial was erected under a provision of the Pennsylvania legislature. Governor Tener of that State and his staff and a large delegation of citizens who served in Pennsylvania regiments during the war were present. The memorial is of granite and is 33 feet square at the base and rises 30 feet, being surmounted by a large granite ball. The monument was not erected in commemoration of any particular battle, for Culpepper was the center of a number of skirmishes and battles, nor for any particular organization. The inscription on the base of the monument is as follows: "Pennsylvania remembers with solemn pride her heroic sons, who here repose in known and unknown graves.
May their scrihees be an inspiration
to the people and promote civic virtue, love of liberty, peace, prosperity and happiness in all the States, Dulco et decorum est pre patria mori."

EARLHAM CO-EDS TO ENTERTAIN STUPES Deny There Will Be Hallowe'en Party, but the Boys Doubt Statement.
Although the co-eds of Earlham college deny that they will entertain the boys with a Hallowe'en party this year, their denial is taken with a large grain of salt by the studes and the boys are all agog about the affair. The co-eds have thrown a mantle of secrecy over their plans for the annual affair, in which they alternate yearly with th boys. There is a keen rivalry between the co-eds and boys regarding the originality of the stunts that are pulled off in connection with the party. This is one reason why the co-eds are so secretive about this year's affair. Another reason for the general denial of the girls about holding the affair this year, is because the boys' affair last year admitted to have been the most original and clever that has been held at Earlham for many yers. It is expected that the Hallowe'en party will be held on October 26 or on the following Saturday.
This morning the entire chapel period of Earlham college was turned into a football mass meeting, Cheer Leader Harold Rogers presiding. New songs written for Saturday's game with Rose Poly were sung by the student body, after which the men grouped together to practice the college yells. Speeches were made by Coach Thistlethwaite, Professor E. P. Trueblood, Instructor C. L. Reagan and Captain Guyer. Coach Thistlethwaite said Saturday's game with Rose Poly here Sat
urday would be the hardest and most i important of the year. By winning this ; game there is not only the possibility of winning the secondary championship of the state, but also the state championship, as a game is scheduled with Indiana university for November 2. Earlham's schedule is the hardest one that has been arranged for many years. The team will play three games
after only three weeks of practice. The team play has greatly improved since
last Saturday and a good showing is
expected tomorrow. The Cincinnati
game last Saturday pointed out serious flaws in the Quaker machine, which hard practice this week has remedied.
The team that will line up against
Rose Poly tomorrow will be slightly
changed from the one used in the preceding games. Owing to injuries, John
son, a Richmond boy, will not play quarter. Thistlethwaite has been shifted from guard to tackle and Murray is back at guard where he played in former years. J. Stanley who has been pushing Sharpless at end will
probably play part of the game at left
end, and Lewis, who reported for practice early this week, will probably get
into the game for a short time. Darnell, a student who formerly played on the Richmond high school team will probably be seen at quarter part of the game. Williams, a candidate for
half back will start the game in the place of Brounell who is on the injured list. Rose has a number of good players. Lawler at end and Pogansee at tackle are the men that the Earlham line fears. Neff at quarter is a heady player. Captain Stoms at half back is a brilliant player while the Earlham line will have it3 work cut out to stop the line plunges of Haggerty, fullback. If the field is wet tomorrow Earlham's chances for victory will not be bright, as she depends on her shifty and swift back field to advance the ball. The lines of the two teams are equally matched, while the back leld of Rose outweights Earlham's.

costs but 50 cents. "For 14 months I was so badly afflicted with Rheumatism that much of the time I was obliged to use a cane in walking. On the recommendation of your druggist in Glens Falls I used one bottle of RHEUMA and THE CANE IS IN THE CORNER NOW. No one could be happier than I am to be rid of the pain, swollen knees, contracting muscles under the knees and badly swollen ankles. When I tell you my weight is 238 pounds you will understand what the use of RHEUMA for Rheumatism means to me. I certainly believe there is no remedy for the disease like RHEUMA." Mini's Sloes ' SATISFY THE MOST FASTIDIOUS PLEASE THE MOST ECONOMICAL When a young woman surveys herself in the mirror and ' gazes admiringly at the pair of FELTMAN SHOES that grace her shapely feet, she experiences a sense of satisfaction that cannot be measured by mere dollars and cents.
Nor can anyone gauge the value of SHOE SATISFACTION on a purely dollar and cent basis. On that basis, alone, however, their decision would have to be in favor of FELTMAN'S, because there is more real shoe value for the money in Feltman's Shoes than in any other shoes. But when style, grace, elegance, ease and all the other elements of personal comfort and satisfaction are considered, Feltman's Shoes Are Incomparably Superior to All Others.
