VETERANS GATHER F0RBIGREUI1I0I1 Golden Anniversary of Mustering in of Eighty-fourth Indiana Is Observed.
The golden anniversary of the mustering in of the Eighty-fourth Indiana Infantry was held here today. Veteran from all parts of Indiana and the Union were in attendance. The meeting commemorated the fiftieth year since the members of the regiment swore allegiance to the federal cause and marched forth to the front. It
was the fortieth reunion of the regiment. Members of the regiment today recalled with pride the heroic action of Captain Prank Ellis, a private in Co. B, in the battle of Chicamagua. His father was captain of the company. He was shot and killed in the battle and Ellis, a lad of 18 years, rushed to his father's side, grasped his sword and led the company into action. Captain Ellis attended the reunion today. The mortuary record of the regiment showed the death of the following comrades In the last year: Geo. Seeley, Company G; I. H. Turrell, I; C. W. Diggs, A; J. W. Macy, A; Rev. Thomas Addington and the Rev. J. H. McNies, both members of the Eightyfourth. The regiment has the following permanent officers: President, G. U. Shafer, Winchester; George H. Fetta, Richmond. Mrs. William R. Way, of Indianapolis, acted as secretary today. Campfire This Evening. The following program will be carried out this evening at a camp fire in the court house, where the sessions were held today: Opening prayer, W. H Pierce, Selma; Address of welcome John L. Rupe; Response, I. O. P. Watts, Winchester; Song, Richardson family, Indianapolis; Reading, Miss Anna Fetta, Richmond; Song, Mrs. W. F. Krueger, Richmond; Reading, Mrs. Fred Lavercombe, Cincinnati, Ohio; Closing prayer, W. F. Mullen, Farmland. Meals were served the veterans by the local Woman's Relief Corps. In the afternoon the veterans were taken on an automobile tour through the city by the members of the Commercial club. The following veterans had registered at noon:
