BULL MOOSE LEADS It! MARION COUNTY Sixty-day Poll, J ust Completed, Is Gratifying to the Progressives.
(National News Association) Indianapolis, Sept. 6. Returns from the sixty-day poll, which 'have begun to reach Progressive county headquarters, are gratifying to the Progressive leaders. The early returns lead the Progressives to be exceedingly sanguine and have caused them to express the belief that the new party will carry Marion County by a safe plurality. f In all the returns received, the Progressive showing compares favorably with that of the Democratic party and
In many precincts the numerical strength exceeds that of the Democrats. A considerable part of the vote is shown to be doubtful and Progressive county leaders said yesterday that with 60 per cent of the doubtful voters casting their ballots for the Progressive ticket, there is no doubt that the
Many Democrats Enlist. . That the Progressives will receive even a larger share of the doubtful votes than half is generally believed by the leaders. Many persons have asserted the belief that the party will receive at least 70 per cent of the doubtful vote. . The poll books which have reached Progressive headquarters show that many former Democrats are enlisted with the new party. These indications are highly pleasing to the Progressives. publicans, and the Progressive leaders are not concerning themselves seriously with the G. O. P. supporters at this time. Lead In Randolph County. The poll of Randolph County, which has been received at state headquarters, gives the Progressives a large lead over the opposing parties. The returns of thirty-one of forty-three precincts of the county' show the following result: Progressives, 1,967; Democrats, 1,255; Republicans, 792; Prohibitionists, 166; Socialists, 61, and doubtful, 779. The remaining twelve precincts will show similar returns, it Is said. Returns from other counties are expected this week. County Progressive leaders will give their attention today to the registration of voters. All township, ward and precinct committeemen are expected to devote the day to urging voters to register. The Progressives will engage vehicles in many precincts
and will take the voters to the places of registration. Workers Are Active. Many workers made a personal canvass of their precincts last night, reminding the voters that today is registration day. The Progressives are urging all voters, regardless of their political affiliations, to register. The fact that only 44 per cent of the vote was registered at the previous registration day has caused political workers of all parties to urge the importance of registering today. Final arrangements have been completed ' for the Beveridge meeting in Tomlinson Hall tomorrow evening. Hundreds of " workingmen from
throughout the city have sent word that they will attend the meeting in bodies. The doors will be opened at 7 o'clock. T. C. Burnsides, of Camby, Ind., a brother of Gen. row's meeting. Many persons will
