Last night Mrs. Haldeman was vastly relieved .when informed that the sad plight of herself and daughter was being kept from the ears of her son. Dr.- Haldeman is well known in Preble and Wayne counties. He has attempted; to secure patents on several inventions and has advanced and .promoted many "schemes which he believed would be of great public service. One of His Inventions. Among his schemes was one of last fall, in which be attempted to interest the city officials and Commercial Club of Richmond. His plan was to head a corporation to be known as the Haldeman Traction and Suburban railway company, which was to operate autotraction cars throughout Wayne county. He planned to construct concrete grooved-rails upon which the automobile-traction car was to be operated. His plan did not meet with much encouragement in this city. Some years ago Dr. Haldeman promoted a scheme whereby the city of Cincinnati was to be furnished with drinking water. A huge reservoir was to be constructed near New Paris, O., nith pipe lines running to Cincinnati. The p lan, it is said, was to organize a 150,000,000 company.

The Woman's Relief Corps and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the G. A. R. provided an elegant dinner for the old veterans, who thoroughly enjoyed
