FUGITIVES WRITE PLEAS OF GUILTY zij . - And Two Men Who Broke :: Jail Fined About All :J They Left Here. - n ' jk, letter was received by Police Chief Gormon this morning from Paris, HI., written by James Taylor and George East, the two men who escaped from the city jail last week, by the aid of a Bpoon, which they found in the jail. Tfce letter instructed the chief to pay their fines out of the money which they left at police headquarters and to send the balance to them at Paris. ijThe charge against the two men was pbblic intoxication. Each had about it5 upon their persons when arrested. The mayor fined each $5 and costs, which amounted to $15 in each case.
There will be but a small "balance" sent to the two men. ' East and Taylor were arrested in a Main street saloon the first part of last week. They Had created a disturbance and were locked up in the city jail, about 3 o'clock in the afternoon. When the turnkey went to the bastile about 6 o'clock the same evening to gjve the prisoners their supper he found the jail doors open. Taylor and East believing the socalled joke too good to keep informed a north-end saloonist of the method employed to obtain thier release. The saloonist informed the poiice that East and Taylor had used a spoon to open the jail door. The lock, which had been used on the door for twenty years had become rather rusty and it was an easy task to unlock the door. A new lock was placed on the jail door.
Dysentery is always serious and often a dangerous disease, but it can be cured. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy .has cured it even when malignant and epidemic. For sale by all dealers.
