HAGERSTOWN, IND. HAGERSTOWN, Ind., July 6. Mr. and Mrs. John Nicholson have been visiting with their eon, Marion Nicholson and family at Muncie. Mrs. F. B. Petro entertained the Five Hundred club Wednesday afternoon. Miss Nellie Brant, Mrs. Elbert Wycoff and Mrs. A. R. Jones were the substitutes. Mrs. Kramer, son and daughter of Elwood, were gueats Wedneeday at the home of Adam GieBler. Miss Edna Addington, of Richmond, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kirby and family. Rev. and Mrs. V. H. Jenkins entertained Thursday, Rev. Radcliffe, of Elwood. Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Knapp spent the Fourth at Richmond. Mr. and Mrs. Porter Thornburg, of New Castle, Bpent the Fourth with his parents. , Mr. and Mrs. Sam Siersdorfer Bpent Thursday at Indianapolis visiting with Mr. Siersdorfer's mother. Mrs. Joe Stonecipher entertained very informally Tuesday afternoon at cards. The guests were Mrs. James Scott, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Joe Teetor, Mrs. R. C. Small, Mrs. Newman, Mrs. Ora Wheeler and Mrs. A. R. Jones. Miss Virginia Frances Unthank celebrated her eighth birthday Wednesday with a party from two to four p. m. The little guests invited were Thyra Brown, Vern Bramen, Lola Dugglns, Ruth Benbow, Pauline Rowe, Frances Smith, Josephine Foyst, Helen Replogle, Martha and Leona Lamb, Forrest and Pearl Hahn and Mr. Solomon Castor. The hours were spent in games led by Mr. Castor. A Fourth of July lunch was served in the dining room which was appropriately decorated, as was the table. Annabelle Cain, of Indianapolis, is visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Cain. Miss Elizabeth Pratt," of Cincinnati is here for a visit with her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Pitts. Mrs. A. R. Jones was hostess Thursday afternoon to the Priscilla club. The guests of honor were Mrs. G. II. Browder, Mrs. Leslie Davis and Mrs. Ora Wheeler. A two course luncheon was served at Bmall tables in the summer dining room. The L. I. C. team was defeated here the Fourth in a double-header game with the Empires, of Richmond. The score for the first game was 9 to 3 and the second, 3 to 1. Harold Petro is seriously 111 at his home with diphtheria. . MrB. Martha Bowman, of Richmond, is visiting here. Frank Brant, who had a horse entered in the races at Dayton, Thursday, was injured in a mixup with two other drivers, just as the race was starting. He had his shoulder dislocated and arm badly bruised. ECONOMY, IND. ECONOMY, Ind., July 6. Mrs. C. E. Pritchard and Mrs. J. W. Poddiard of Indianapolis; Mrs. Robert Bushman ter, Carrie,and son Harry Bushman, of Modoc, were the guests of Mrs. Stella Cranor and daughter Carrie Wednesday at Central hotel. Miss Erma Veal is clerking occasionally for Albert Atkinson in the grocery. Mrs. Clara Chamness and children are back home after a week's visit with Modoc relatives. Everett Clark is beautifying his home with a coat of paint. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stewart visited near Olive Branch Tuesday. Dr. A, L. Loop was in Richmond Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Will Williamson, Gus Weyl, Mrs. Thomas Cain, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cain were in Richmond Tuesday afternoon. Clarence Williams, colored, died Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock of tuberculosis. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Several from here attended the big ' Fourth of July Celebration at Lynn. Deck Haxton and Mrs. Ora Haxton were in Muncie Wednesday. Miss Mary Ballenger spent Wednesday in Richmond. Mrs. Clara Marshall was given a surprise Thursday evening by a big crowd of her lady friends that she will remember all time to come. And there was the nicest refreshments served, which put new life in the jolly crowd. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Replogle and children were in Hagerstown the first of the week. There were several picnic parties formed here that went to different places to spend the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Culbertson and children, of Webster, spent the Fourth with Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Hiatt. Miss Mary Starr, of the Williamsburg exchange, who has been visiting in Cleveland the past several days, is now back in the office answering calls. The Modo cand Economy Hello Girls held their first annual picnic at Pierce's park Friday. Those present were Mrs. Luna Edwards, Mrs. Oscar Fox, Mr. and Mrs. Dick I'llery and son and Miss Martha Kriausbaure, of Modoc, Mrs. Grace Hunt, Mrs. Ida Lamb and Miss Erma Veal, Economy, a big dinner was the main feature, with boating, singing, speeches and recitals. MILTON, IND. MILTON, Ind., July 6. Mrs. Sarah Ohmit accompanied her granddaughter, Miss Margaret Ohmit, home to Cambridge City, yesterday to spend a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Leverton returned yesterday from a visit with friends at Muncie. Mrs. Maple, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs.' Catherine Daniel, went to Alpine, yesterday to visit relatives. The Rev. F. C. McCormick, Charles Hale and B. W. Warren, a ttended the Ministerial association of the Wayne county Christian churches at Richmond. Word has been received here of the death of Levi Cresh, died at his home near Broad Ripple Wednesday. He was 96 years old and Is survived by several children. The funeral was held at the Baptist church known as the Crooked Creek church near his home, Friday. The burial was at Crown Hill. Mr. Gresh was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania, but removed to Wayne county and lived in the vicinity of Mlton, and was an uncle of L. R. Gresh of Milton. The Woman's cemetery association will meet with Miss Sarah Roberts, Monday evening. Raymond Bryant has a bad finger. He mashed the end of the finger and the nail had to be removed. MIsb Hazel Murley, of Anderson is Mrs. J. B. Murley. Mrs. Mary Walker, who has returned from a visit with relatives, and her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Langston, both of near Dublin, called on Mrs. Mary Passmoro, Thursday, as a visit of condolence. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Jones entertained a company, Thursday evening. The guests were Messrs. and Mesdames F. M. Jones, W. L. Parkins and family, the Rev. and Mrs. F. C. McCormick and family, Mesdames Merriman and Alice Gresh. In the evening they enjoyed a display of fireworks. Mrs. J. A. Brown was hostess for the Esther Bible class, yesterday afternoon. The ladies enjoyed a thimble party. Refreshments were served. Oreorge Orull and Benton Wilson were at New Paris, Ohio, to visit friends and enjoy a game of croquet: Sunday services at the M. E. church. Sunday school at 9:15 a. m. Preaching morning and evening by the pastor, the Rev. C. H. Pinnick. The Epworth League will meet at the usual hour. Every one is cordially invited. Mrs. Grant Stanley has been suffering from lumbago and has been quite sick. Mr. and Mrs. Lycurgus Beeeon were at Fourth of July dinner with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hart.
