At a special meeting of the reorganized school board Mies Sarah Hill, elected to the board by council last Monouy night sat In the place of S. S.' btrattan, resigned. Miss Hill was the first woman in the history of the city 10 hold such a position. The board held its election, Dr. M. F. Johnston being president, Miss Hill the secretary and Lee B. Nusbaum the treasurer. The most important matter brought before the board was the report of the school physicians, Dr. J. E. King and Dr. A. L. Bramkamp, on the medical inspection in the schools for the fiiteen weeks they have been doing this work. The report was submitted by Superintendent T. A. Mott. The physicians visited each school building in the city except the high school twice a week or oftener. The teachers of the city were directed to lefer to the physician at the time of his visits for special examination of 011 pupils who had been ill, or who were suspected by the teacher to be in need of medical treatment. In addition to this special examination of pupils referred to them by the teachers, the physicians are required by law to make a thorough physical examination of each child in school at least' once a year. This work of physical examination was carried forward fts rapidly as possible. Each pupil in the Starr, Whitewater, ftaxter, Warner and Sevestopol districts was given the complete physical examination, 1211 pupils in all. The physical examination of pupils in the other districts will be given in the fall. NEAR PROGRESSIVE PLATFORM ASSORED Roosevelt and Taft Platform Builders Willing to Give , and Take.

(National News Association) CHICAGO. June 21. The subcommittee of nine selected to make the draft of the platform for submission to the entire committee, again resumed their trading conference today. The full committee had been called to meet later, but the report came from the committee room that the platform would probably not be ready for submission until late this afternoon. Tho Roosevelt members of the committee took up their duty in earnest. They found that the Taft Platform makers were willing to give and take. The

platform they will finally fix will be far more progressive than the original draft framed by the President's friends. Governor Hadley was represented in the committee by Hugh Mclndoe, state senator from Joplin, Missouri. Dr. William Draper Lewis, of Pennsylvania, who refused to sit with the committee in previous sessions, was present today. The two factions have practically agreed upon a tariff plank. It will pledge the party to a revision of the tariff in accordance with the findings of a non-partisan tariff commission. The Taft people assert that the committee will recommend the President's anti-trust plank. It is certain, however that the Roosevelt men will insist upon so revising the plank as to include a declaration for government regulation of interstate corporations. Woman's Suffrange. The sub-committe is not agreed on the woman's suffrage plank, but it is admitted that there will be some kind of a suffrage plank in the platform.

The plank which meets the approval of

the Taft members is the one which will

recommend the extension of woman suffrage in state elections. A plank recommending the revision of the federal laws relating to the currency so as to make the monetary system of the country more responsive Jo moderate demands is offered. The phraseology of this plank has given the committee a great deal of worry. The La Follette members of the committee xlemand a drastic currency plank. It is announced today that La the Follette plank will be submitted to the convention as a minority report. It will contain a preamble citingg that a money trust exists in the United States today, and citing its crimes and acts.
