TINPLATE COMPANY IS CALLEa TYRANT Witness McFarland Says the Concern Drove Him Out of Roofing Business.
Good Reasons
(National News Association) - NEW YORK, May 14. Tyrannical methods alleged to have been prae
ticed by the American Tinplate company, an adjunct of the Unite States Steel corporation, were revealed at the hearing of the government dissolution Bult against the so-called steel trust before Examiner Henry T. Brown in the customs house today. James E. McFarland, of Philadelphia, a tinplate jobber, testified that he had formerly been a dealer in tin roofing, but that he had been forced out of business by the American Tinplate company. He swore that that company refused to sell him plate unless he turned over all his personal brands. The witness declared that he
got tired of this oppression and went
into the jobbing end of the business. Attorney Garneau, associate counsel for the government against the meat packers, joined the government counsel in the steel case today.
For Demanding the Original Remedy, Newbro'a Herpicide If you knew it, you would not willingly accept counterfeit money. Instead, you would probably raise a disturbance and seek some means of redress. Why then accept a preparation said to be "just as good as Newbro's Herpicide?" You know it is a counj.rfeit,
imitation of the real thing. You
a flanking expedition by Gen. Orozco are cut off from communication -with headquarters and it was reported here today that they had been surrounded by federals. The report could not be verified this morning. The two generals had a force of 2500 men. Gen. Orozco, though admitting his defeat, is not discouraged. "The revolution has just begun," he said. "We are conident that we will
overthrow the Madero government for a just cause will always triumph."
GREAT COAL STRIKE
NEARLY CONCLUDED
(National :'ewi Association) WILKES-BARRE, Pa.. May 14. A Joint convention representing the miners in the three anthracite districts assembled here today to act on the refusal to ratify the tentative agreement by the conference committee of the mine workers, which was arranged by
their sub-committees and the opera
tors. Though the sentiment of the dele-
gates on the question of ratifying the agreement in the face of the action of the executive boards in voting it down appears to be divided it is believed that a majority of the delegates will
rote for ratification. If, on the other
hand, the convention rejects the tentative agreement, it is expected by the leaders that the committee of 10 will be empowered to enter into anothr
joint conference and conclude an
agreement that will be subject to rati
fication by a referendum vote. Whichever course is pursued it Is hoped to bring about a resumption of work in
the' anthracite field within the nest j week or ten days. The strike already has been in force six weeks.

want the original dandruff germ destroyer, Herpicide, and you can get it,
too, if you insist. Redress is always possible in such j an instance. The most effective meth- j od is to trade where you get what you , ask for and no suggestions offered. j With the death of the dandruff : germ the hair stops falling and is per- '- mitted to resume its natural growth ; and beauty. Such results follow the use of Newbro's Herpicide. It stops j itching of the scalp almost instantly, i A counterfeit article is never "just j as good." Herpicide is sold and guaranteed by all druggists. i Applications may be obtained at all good barber shops and hair dressers. Send 10c in postage for sample and booklet on the care of the hair to The Herpicide Co., Dept. R., Detroit, Mich.

MINISTERS UNITE; RESOLUTION LOST
(National News Association) MINNEAPOLIS, May 14. Methodist ministers standing together today defeated an attempt for the placing of laymen on a court which is to try charges of the violation of the moral law made against a bishop. The Question, came up on report 'of the judiciary committee providing for a court of ministers from four annual conferences to try charges against "bishops. The amendment to have laymen on the court was lost by a vote of 403 to 283. The episcopacy committee's report, expected today, was not made as the committee is in a quarrel over the propdsed retirement of Bishop Neely of New Orleans.

North A street residents from Tenth street east are holding impromptu indignation meetings when two or more of them chance to meet, and uttering strong protests against the methods of the city street department in "repairing" chuck holes with a bushel or two of crushed stone, which is never treated with the rolling process, and which, the indignant residents say, is finally reduced to fine powder that blows
away with the first heavy guest, leav-
ing the chuck holes in as poor condition as ever. The charge of the North A street citizens that that thoroughfare has not been repaired in eighteen years has not been verified with the city street department records, but the aforesaid indignant citizens say that the old trenches put in by the water works company when it originally piped the city still may be seen in outline and have never been attended to. The fact that repeated appeals to repair North A street have apparently been in vain, the residents say, means that there will now be a concerted move to have the city give some actual attention to the matter.
A DIVORCE ASKED; ANOTHER GRANTED

Horch on her cross complaint alleging cruel and inhuman treatment. The judge also decreed that she obtain alimony to the amount of $300.
