1SMAY COULD HOT BE LOCATED TODAY ' : ' Mystery Surrounds Whereabouts of the White Star Line Official.
' SIOUX CITY. Ia., May 1 The citizens of the town of Ismay,. Mont., located on the C. M. & P. S. railroad, have taken stepB to change the name of the "municipality because of the criticism heaped upon J. Bruce Ismay sine the Titanic disaster. Suggestion has been made that the town be named after;'some hero of the disaster. (National News Association? NEW YORK, May 1. Mystery surrounded the whereabouts of J. Bruce Ismay, chairman of the board of directors of the International Mercantile Marine, today. While officers sought him here to force him if possibie'to return to Washington to answer to a citation for contempt of the supreme court of the District of Columbia. Ismay hurried to New York with Vice President Franklin of the White Star line jnst after he had been summoned as a witness in a proceeding before the Washington court. At the Rltz-Carlton hotel, where he stayed before going to Washington, the management said Mr. Ismay had not returned to that hotel. It was stated that he had gone to the home of Mr. Franklin, but at the latter place no trace colud be found of the steamship magnate. Mr. Franklin denied he knew where Mr.' Ismay was keeping himself. '-SOME BODIES UNCLAIMED. HALIFAX, May 1. Sixty-six unclaimed bodies of the 19 corpses of Titanic victims, brought to this port on the cable ship Mackay-Bennett, lay In the Malflower morgue today while every effort was made to identify them. The bodies had been embalmed" aiul were stretched out in rough pine boxes Most of them appeared by. their clothing to be seamen, and it 1s probable that they will be buried here, as there is little hope of their ultimate identification. BRIDGE CONTRACT BIDS ARE ENTERED Bids on contracts for the construction of bridges in Wayne county were received by the board of county comnilsaioners this afternoon. The Endsley bridge south of Elkhorn church and the Townsend bridge In Clay township were the two on which bids were received. t 'Liquor licenses were granted by the board to Fred Brokamp, Henry Schell and George Pille. RICHMOND MAY GET A TROUT HATCHERY In case George W. Miles, state fish and game commissioner, decides that there is a better location in the vicinity of this city for a trout hatchery than in other places in the state, he will order such a hatchery erected here. This is the statement made by J. F. Holiday, secretary of the Wayne County Game and Fish association. Secretary Holiday declares that prospects ia this direction are very bright, for when Commissioner Miles was In this city last week he was talked to about this matter and was shown an ideal Ideation for such a hatchery. In case it is decided to erect a hatchery here Mr. Miles will ask that $6,000 or $8,000 b.approprlated from state funds for this purpose. The proceeds from the banquet given by the association last Thursday evening amounted to enough to pay off all of the association debts. - Have yoa trotroia or any la arms fWi disordered stomach? lio to Your druesris" i- .4 ret a 50c or SI t-ottlo of Dr. Caldwell V -ruO Pepsin, which to ritirflly ruaraiUa-i t t4 to aau keo oa wt -

RAGS" CELEBRATING Dog Who Wouldn't Be Muz-1 zled Shows Contempt. Some people say dogs haven't sense. Rags has, Rags is a dog of the curly black and white mop variety. All during the "war," when the dog quarantine was on. Rags did not wear a muzzle. He defied the cops to shoot him and although they tried hard enough, he could not be shot. He was too wise. He could tell a cop, be he brass-buttoned or in plain clothes, and kept on the safe side and preserved his skin thereby. Now the war is over and Rags knows it. Yesterday Officer Vogelsong, his implacable enemy was walking down North Fifth street. Rags approached,, calmly inspected the cop and grabbed a mouthful of blue pants. Vogelsong resented such treatment and planted a some undeveloped territory into Rag's slats. Rags grinned and barked and followed the policeman a full square, loudly giving tongue and snapping at his heels. The dog has now formed a habit of walking up and down past the city building, tail proudly erect, and his moppy, .haircovered face is fairly beaming with pent up contempt for the officers inside who, he knows, can't harm him now. LARGE CROWD SEES OPIUM DEN RAIDED 'National News Association) NEW YORK, May 1. While hundreds of spectators looked on a dozen customs inspectors, armed with saws and hammers, raided an alleged "opium den" in the six-story building at 226 East Tenth street today. Two prisoners, giving the names of George Murphy and Henry Smith were arrested. -, ----- The inspectors had to battle an hour before that got into the two rooms occupied by the smokers on the first floor. As soon, as they smashed a panel of the door the men inside barricade the opening with tables and chairs. In the meantime the crowd in the street became so unruly that police reserves had to be summoned. Other dwellers in. the house thought that the rooms were used by some sort of Oriental cult to conduct religious ceremonies in and that the funjes of opium came from some kind of incense. A LARCENY CHARGE An affidavit charging Charles D. Hunt, fourteen years, with having stolen a bicycle belonging to Clarence Snider was filed today in the county clerk's office by Mrs. Elizabeth Candler, probation officer. The affidavit charges Hunt with delinquency. The ( bicycle was stolen April 12, It is said, f and was valued at $30. The case will be heard by Judge Fox within a few days.
