IIEIV LIGHT SYSTEM TO BE DISCUSSED Special Committee and City Officials to Have Meeting Late Today. Clutter lighti fur Main street took a bull and bear movement in rapid succession this morning. A meeting was scheduled between the cluster light committee and Mayor Zimmerman and Xlmrod Johnson, superintendent of the Municipal Light plant, but Mr. Dehority of the State Board of Accounts appeared this morning and Johnson was busy with him showing him the ins and outs of the accounts of the municipal plant bo he couldn't connect with the cluster light committee. That was the first setback, and tho meeting was postponed till a later hour this afternoon. Some Idea of what the next showing on the chart of the cluster lights mould be was gained from Supt. Johnton: "1 don't want the plant to pull the load," he said. Me pulled some figures out of hi pocket 'which he said explained his position. 72.74 a month is the figure

"The truth of the matter is." said ! Johnson, "that we don't want to carry the load. It isn't Just the $72.74 a ! month. The changes to be made in tho light business in the next two i years mean that the city can't afford, ' in my opinion, to take care of this bus iness. I'd a lot rather the Light, Heat and Power company would handle this than the city plant. In two years we will all be square away." The cluster light men are undismayed and hope to arrive at a settlement with the city authorities this afternoon. They brought Mr. Carter of Kokomo to town today. Carter is the head of the cluster light committee in Kokomo. He has figures which are said to disprove the statements of Supt. Johnson and Mayor Zimmerman. But the happenings of the day are merely the fluctuations of final settlementone way or the other. Cold and stormy weather which prevailed in the western part of the state today resulted in a lighter vote in the presidential preference primary than was expected. The weather Is believed to have favored Senator La Follette. Roosevelt's strength was conceded to be in the farming communities, and La Follette in the cities. La Follette's recent speaking tours through the cities of the state strengthened his cause greatly and politicians today said he had better than a fighting chance to carry the state.
