TAFT POLICY ASSAILED BY THE COLONEL

(Continued from Page One.) Ex-Pes. Roosevelt Says Administration's Treatment of Business Has Been Cause of Great Unrest.

lean Tobacco Co. But the writer believes that the reorganization plans have ,ot borne out the aims of the "trust 'busters." "Surely," he says, "miscarriage of justice is not too strong a term to apiply to such a result when considered ; in connection with what the supreme hcourt did to this trust (Amn. Tobacco jcompany.) , Must Stop Groping. "Wo must Btop groping and establish a definite policy," is the keynote of the editorial. The writer declares a business should not be attacked because it is Iblg, nor should men of wealth be percecuted because they have grown rich In the business. Ultimately, says the colonel, government supervision will r extend not only over the corporations 'themselves but over the treatment of iemployes by corporations. The colonel Lby saying "conservatives will do well to remember that the unfair and iniIquitous methods of the great masters lof corporate capital havo done more to cause popular discontent with the property classes than all the orations Jof all the socialist orators in the country put together."

He was postmaster of the village in 1862. Whitewater, the old home of Secretary Charles Jordan of the Commercial club, was the next stop. A big

'j' Welcome" banner was stretched

across the street and the town was beautifully decorated with flags. More cider was tapped and apples that put to shame the prize winner at the state

i apple show, were distributed to the

visitors. The Rev. Fisher delivered an address of welcome in which he lauded Richmond and sounded the praises of Franklin township. His ad-

j dress was responded to with three

hearty cheers. Glad Hand at Bethel. A similar welcome awaited the boosters at Bethel. The town was resplendent with flags and bunting and the school children were lined across the street, one lad bearing a banner on which was printed, "We Will

! Support a Traction Line." Mr. Davis I of Bethel delivered the address of ! welcome. He said Richmond was

Bethel's metropolis and they wanted Richmond to be sure and build that traction line. "You'll get it," chorused the guests, then gave three cheers and waded into the cider, apples and cigars. Hollansburg, Ohio, one of the most thriving and prosperous towns in Western Ohio, outdid itself in the welcome given the boosters. They were formally received in the opera house, where the school children were seated on the stage, and hot coffee and good things to eat were served. Dr. Martz in a brief address of welcome said he liked to see hustlers, especially hustlers from Hollansburg's metropolis, then he concluded with the usual reminder, "we want that traction line." Secretary Jordan made a brief reply, expressing the appreciation of the Richmond men for the reception they had received. Every visitor received a can of tomatoes from a Hollansburg canning concern. At Glen Karn, Hollansburg's next door neighbor, a reception was given the visitors at the Chenoweth store. Short stops were made at Arba and Crete, where large crowds were gathered and the tourists most cordially greeted. Spartansburg Cordial. At Spartansburg a luncheon was given the visitors in a large store

room. Mr. Jordan told the Spartansburg people their hospitality would never be forgotten and that the hot

coffee had saved many a life. Bar-

tonia was visited next, then the tourists speeded on for Union City," arriving there at one o'clock. After an excellent chicken dinner at the hotel the boosters were entertained for some time at the Federal Club. Mayor Harris extended his official welcome, then Mr. Ward of Union City in a witty address thanked the tourists for visiting Union City. He said that years ago Richmond and Union City had been connected by the famous "Underground Railway," now it was time to unite the two cities with a railroad above ground. Theodore Shockney, a prominent Union City attorney and former lieutenant governor, delivered an address, praising Richmond, but taking a slap at Richmond's attorneys. ' They wear kid gloves and frock coats, but in court they shake their fists under your nose and call you a "damn liar.' They should be placed across the legal bench of Wayne county and given a spanking," he said. Secretary Jordan told the Union City men the object of the trip, then the meeting closed

with three rousing cheers for Union City. At Fountain City. At Winchester a reception was given at the court house, Judge Ingall presiding. There was not much of a crowd present, the cars arriving an hour later than the time scheduled. Lynn was reached after nightfall and there was a large crowd on the streets and the welcome accorded the boosters was most cordial. Old Fountain City, the last stop, opened wide its arms and received its guests with typical New Garden hospitality. A lunch was served at the K. of P. hall, following which several addresses were made. Major Lacey presided.
