Fire Chief Seyfcrllch and twenty of his men hart a narrow eutape from death in the destruction of the jxr0,'(0 plant of the Chicago Flour Milis company, 433 Grand Ave, by a fire which is being investigated today as possibly having lecn of Incendiary oritrin. The fire start ed in Monige room on 1hc first floor of the elevator, an old structure, where twenty ri- grillo'is f keronene were stored to be used for liglitnig purposes. The oil is believed to have cither explo.sed from an uiiuerouiitabU' cause or was ignited by an incendiary. MANY HUNTERS OUT Mr. Runny Kabt.it and Mr. Bobby Quail were hunted for by a huge posse In this county 'Friday, marking tlx- opening of the hunting season. Practically evry inch of territory was traversed by a huntsman and inasmuch as the game Is somewhat plentiful many good catches are predicted. The summer and fall was most excellent for the rabbits and quail to raise their young- Hunters who have not secured licenses are warned by the authorities that they are liable to prosecution if caught. Prmission to hunt must be secured from the landowner, or otherwise one is liable to prosecution under Ihe trespass laws. In this regard many farmers have posted notices and advertised that, no hunting will be permitted on their estates. The nimjods do not need hunting licenses if the confine their operations to the township within which they reside. GLIDER TRIED BY LOCAL YOUNG MEN Walter Davis, :-.on of Mr. and Mrs. Oeoruo V Mavis, accompanied by George Bayer, tried out aeroplane gliders at the driving pack east of the city Friday afternoon. While Bayer rode his motorcycle to which the gliders wre attached by a rope, Davis was riding in the planes. There are two planes, each measuring about tvventv four fee t from tip to tip. In previous flights the gliders were given sufficient velocity by the use of a motorcycle to glide from one end of the track to the other. HAERTEL TO SPEAK ON MARTIN LUTHER Prof. M. II. (National News Association) LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10. The fifth panel of veniremen was called today in an effort to pet a McN'amara jury. 'Squire Gootch, a negro plasterer, was excused because the big stork is due at his house in a few days. Clarence Brown, a theater manager was excused because, being a Quaker, he had conscientious scruples against the death penalty. Attorney Marrow had a tilt with the district attorney before John I.. Wilson, an employe of Gen. Otis, was rejected. Marrow was fighting mad but won out. TWO EVANGELISTS AT THE FIRST M. E. Mr. and Mrs. D. II. Kennedy, the "Canadian Evangelists, " will open a religious revival at the First M. E. church Sunday evening, according to an announcement, made today by J. F. Radcliffe, superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school. Services will be held every night next week at half pase seven, to which th- public; is invited. Besides the evangelists, the choir of the First M. H. church will take part in the program. Mrs. Kennedy will speak before the Epworth League at half past six Sunday evening. Owing to the success which the pair have had in the far west recently, the officers of the local church expect the revival to attract much attention. A FAMOUS ENGLISH FRIEND IS COMING Norman Penny, F. S. A., F. R. II. S of London, Eng., will deliver three addresses in this city on Sunday and Monday of next week, according to the announcement given out today by the committee delegated to receive him here. Sunday morning, he will be present at the services in the East Main Street Friends" church.
