SYSTEM OF "BIG SIX" Take full nine hours of sleep. Never allow anything to worry you. Take a workout of forty-five fiinutes every morning. Try out every curve until they are under perfect control and then test your speed. Take a thorough rub-down and massage after each workout to prevent muscles from getting stiff. Don't imagine that everything depends on the pitcher. The batters and base runners win the games. Never give a snap hitter a fast ball over the heart of the plate. When a batter "chokes" his bat pitch him a curve or keep the fast ones on the corner away from him. If a batter stands in the far corner of the box and catches his bat on the small end for a big swing, pitch him all the speed at your command. Most of the long swingers strike at a fast ball after It is too late. At the Polo grounds a left-handed batter should never be given a ball on the inside corner, or he Is liable to hit it over the short right field wall. When a batter crowds the plate, force him away by pitching the ball close to his head.
til Monday morning. The delivery of ice and milk was forbidden until Monday morning. The delivery of ice and milk was forbidden, a loaf of . bread could not be purchased at any price; the druggists were permitted to fill prescriptions in cases of dire emergency, but could make no other sales. Guests at the hotel could not get an after dinner cigar. Once an automobile party, passing through the village, ran out of gasoline and was compelled to remain until Monday morning, lie tried to stop the sale of Sunday newspapers, but in this he failed. To violate the Sunday law meant $25 and costs, and he has a following in the town. How strong it is will not be known until alter November 7. Mayor Sloane has been a terror
to evil-doers, but he has been more lib
eral in regard to the Sabbath day. Thus far the odds are in his favor, for it is believed that the student vote of Miami university- almost seventywill constitute the balance of power in the election, and will go te Sloans. King is running on the People's ticket; Sloane on the Citizen's ticket. Both men are Republicans, but party politics is not entering into the contest. The fight is an interesting one, and is attracting attention throughout the southern part of the state.

NKW YORK, Oct. 11. Stewart Edward White and Mrs. White came home on the Cedric from a hunting trip to Africa where Mr. White obtained more than ane hundred head of fine animals and shot fifty-five kinds of game. He said the amount of game in MombaKs: is almost inconceivable: that he had counted more than two hundred animals in half an hour, nearly all of different varieties. He shot what he believes to be the largest lion ever killed. It measures more than eleven feet from tip to tip. Mrs. White wanted to get a python, but was unsuccessful. She brought back, however, a carload of the flora of eqnatorical Africa, many specimens of which she gave to the Kew botanical gardens in London. The rest she will take to her home at Santa Barbara, Cal. Mr. White said he was charged four rimes by rhinoeero-es and was forced into twenty-one tight places by infuriated lions and other beasts, from all of which he barely escaped with his life by either climbing trees or killing his quarry.

Superb offensive and defensive play of the Quakers, combined with the miserable showing which the players tii the Cincinnati university eleven put up in sum and substance tells the story of Earlham's victory on Reid
Field on Saturday afternoon. The score stood & to . The star of the game was Bogue. the left half back for the Earlham lads. Wherever the ball was, there Bogue who gives promise of developing, if he already does not possess the honor, into the best half back in the state this season was to be found. In the last, quarter of play, with Cincinnati within shouting distance of the Earlham goal and with the ball in her posession, she tried a forward pass. Bogue intercepted the ball in its flight and ran through the Cincinnati team and ninety yards for a touch down. His place kick also was a feature of the game. Cincinnati does not possess the strength this year which it did last. At least it was not shown yesterday and the concensus of opinion of a large crowd of spectators was that the visitors were outclassed in all departments of the game. Last season the Earlham eleven was defeated by C. U. by the score of 20 to 0 and before the game the Quakers were not any too confident of holding the visitors to a low score, let alone a white-wash. Fenker kicked off. the ball going to Earlham's 20 yard line. The Quakers returned the punt, the ball going to the visitors. After working back and forth the "Buckeye" boys lost the ball on a punt. Bogue got the pigskin and made a sensational run of 30 yards through the visitors line. The first quarter ended with the ball within 30 yards of Earlham's goal. The second quarter started with a punt by the Quakers. Bogue recovered the ball and carried it within the thirty yard line of the visitors goal. In a pretty place kick, Bogue sent ths pigskin over the opponent's goal for a score. Cincinnati then kicked off and recovered the ball. With the ball far in the Quaker's territory they tried a place-kick but failed. The first half ended with a score of 3 to 0 in favor of the local college. No one scored in the third quarter.
The ball went back and forth but neither side was able to carry it across the line. Near the end of the quarter the visitors carried the ball to Earlham's five-yard line. The Quakers made a brace and held the Buckeyes for downs. When time was called the quarter ended with the ball just inside Earlham's territory. The most sensational play of the game was made in the last quarter when Bogue, the fast Quaker halfback, got the ball in a forward pass of the visitors and carried it 90 yards for a touch-down. Reagan then kicked goal. The game ended without any other scores. Near the end of the first half Furnas the "pony" end of the Quakers received a severe blow on the head which kept him out of the rest of the game. The defense of the Quakers was a hard nut for the visitors. Time after time the locals broke through their opionent's line and blocked punts and place kicks. The strength of the Quakers defense was largely due to Stanley, Murray and Guyer. The latter had to leave the game on account of weak ankles. The fast work of Reagan and Bogue was also a puzzle to
j the visitors. I For the visitors. Bessemever was
the star. In the first quarter he played all of the game for them but was unable to make anv headwav
j against the solid phalanx of the .Quakers. Heuck of the Cincinnati team was unable to continue in the game
on account of injuries. Summary of the game: Earlham 9 Cincinnati University n Lancaster Easton Left End Kelsey , Bessemever Left Tackle Murray, Lamb Goeheen Left Guard

METHOD. The secret of getting through work is method. Order, a has been said, is GocTs first law. Let k be yours. Do not let your work accumulate upon your hands. It is not work that kills, but airears of work. Work put off is work put on heavy interest. "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." It becomes intolerable if it be laid upon tomorrow.

PERCO IS GUARANTEED FOR TWO YEARS AND PAYS FOR ITSELF IN THE COFFEE IT SAVES
El Perco makes delicious coffee because it carries out the theoretical principles of coffee-making. Does it simply, exactly. Measure cold water into El Perco, coffee into the basket. Place percolater tube into position; attach cord to any light socket and slip plug into place. That's all. El Perco is standing on the dining table. Begins percolating in 30 seconds. Now here is the "how" of it: Projecting into the bottom of the pot is an electric heating element encased in German silver. The cold water surrounds this element. As soon as the plug is put in, this element gets hot, a little of the water is heated, flows up through a tube and falls in a spray over the coffee. So percolation begins in half a minute. No valves, syphons or contraptions of any kind in El Perco. Plunge it right into the dishpan if you want to, but there is no occasion. It is as easy to keep clean as any coffee pot. And uses scarcely any electric current. Heating element guaranteed Two Years. Owing to the new principles employed, El Perco is also the lowest priced electric percolator on the market 7 cup size, copper or nickel, $8.00; 5 cup size, copper or nickel. $7.50.
