(National News Association) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 27, The tempest which rocked the Mormon church to Its foundations was re
vealed here when It came out that an attempt was made to sell photographs of the Interior of the Temple and one photograph In particular, made In the ' bedroom of Joseph F. Smith, the prophet. This picture shows four beds arranged around the room, one of them larger than the rest covered with a velvet canopy. Smith has five wives and is the father of forty-five children. The pictures were taken by a German photographer who made love to a German servant girl to gain entrance. '-J if . i '

A DEAL IN STAMPS. : Ths Watchful Man Insisted on Hit Rights and Gat L-aft The man who keeps a watchful eye on the federal government bought five postage sfainps. SUMMER SALADS.
Served In Cucumber Cups Are Oelieiously Appetizing. Cufumbers suggest a pretty, new salad that is delightfully offered in -nr.il tnVipr ruses.
The chief ingredient is fresh crab meat, which, after being removed from the shells, is lightly flaked with a silver fork. The cucumbers are first peeled and the inside removed care
fully with a spoon, lane ine mm-u n lulce thus obtained and stir tbem
into a quarter cup of French dressing
Let this mixture stand twenty or twenty-five minutes on the ice. Strain through a fine sieve and beat up once more to mix the conflicting ingredients
thoroughly. Mix part of this dressing with the crab meat and reserve the other portion in which to marinate
or steep the cucumber cups. Mana
both in the icebox to become cold.
Mix the crab flakes carefully with a
nice mavonnaise dressing made by
the usual household recipe and fill
Into the melon cu:s. Arrange the
latter on tender lettuce leaves. Finely
chopped green . peppers may te wrinkled over the dish, which is u
repast in itself without conveying an
Imnression of too irreat heaviness.
For another salad which is designed wholly or in part to tr.ke the part of a meat dish make an unsweetened cucumber jelly by the visual recipe and
pour it into a ring mold.
Cook till tender a tew young summer beets aud an equal quantity of tluy French carrots. Cut these into fa no
Shapes, if you prefer, with a vegetable cutter; but. whether or not you shape
them, steep them for just a few nitn utes in cold spiced vinegar. While
the jelly is forming drop in the veg

When serving tinie conies unnioid

rsms lasc w preserve me color and stir well. All scum must be carefully removed as it rises. Dry fruit requires the addition of a little liquid to prevent Its burning. Water, rhubarb or currant juices may
be used. The jam must be stored in a dry, cool place, free from drafts and in an even temperature. If any jam is spilled on the jars when pouring it in wipe it off at once with a damp cloth wrung out in hot water.
Iced Tea Pointers. To obtain the best results in making iced tea remember, "first, that It should not be too strong: second, provide cracked ice in abundance in each
glass, adding a slice of lemon for those who prefer this acid flavoring to sugar. It must always be borne in mind that tepid tea is tea in its least palatable form. This beverage must be really hot or absolutely cold. Tulver ized sugar naturally dissolves more readily than granulated in this as in all cold drinks. Some hostesses add cither a sprig of mint or a cherry or two to each glass to give an additional flavor. Special glasses are now sold
for iced tea. with spoons which are
much taller than those articles usually
are.

National News Association) LONDON", Sept. 27. The question of the legality of the prize fight between Jack Johnson, the American negro, and Bombardier Wells has finally been put up to the English courts. Six summonses for principals and promoters were issued by a magistrate at Bow street police court in a test
case, which will govern the future of
boxing in Great Britain. The hearing
has been set for today when both sides will present testimony. This action was taken following the decision handed down by Home Secretary Winston Churchill that the fight is illegal. Counsel representing the anti-fight forces will argue that the fight would be against public policy for two rea
sons: 1 That it would develop into a brutal spectacle of one man beating up another, because Wells is no match for
Johnson. 2 It might arise race prejudice. On the other hand, Promoter James White and others interested, will contend that the match will be different from the thousands of others which have been held in England in recent
years. Johnson and Wells have signed an agreement to box under the National Sporting Club rules. Magistrate Marsh, who granted the
summonses, acted after a private con-
