SPURUS STRANGER AS Ati IMPOSTOR 'Mrs. Kimmel, Depending on Maternal Instinct, Dismisses Man of Mystery. (National New AsMOc-Iatlon) NILES, Mich., Sept. 23. Mrs. Ea- ' tella Kimmel today definitely dismiss- ' d all claims of the man of mystery t known as Andrew J. White, but who claims to be George A. Kimmel, the long-lost son of Mrs. Kimmel, who has ' been absent from his family for 13 i years. Mrs. Kimmel dispassionately explained the grounds on which she bases her conclusions and at the end t denounced the claimant to her mater-

I nal affections as an Impostor. Accor-

' ding to neighbors of the family, Kim- ' mel who was legally adjudged dead,

has either returned like a modern Rip Van Winkle In flesh and blood br clue ibis living Image has come to his old 1 town. The man In the case, while in j prison In New York state suffered deilusional insanity, according to advices

! from prison authorities at Auburn and I Matteawan, N. V., and this knowledge ' strengthens Mrs. Kimmel in her beI liefs. "I am convinced this man is an Imi postor." said the little old gray-hairod 'woman today. Ills hands are smaller 'than the hands of my son. He has not ! got the crooked thumb that George !had. He is shorter than my ron. His ; eyes are gray, whereas my son's eyes 'were dark brown. His handwriting 'does not resemble the handwriting of I my son. His chin does not protrude us jmy son's did. Then, does mother injstinct not count for anything? There lis certainly strong enough resem'blance between this man and my son 'to awaken mother instinct if the real . kinship existed. Rut it does not and 'when 1 look Into that man's face, even though I do not. reason or think of changes, I know ho la not my son." The return of the spectre of Kimmel a few days ago has stood this little community upon Its bead, metaphorically speaking. Memories are being taxed to the extent of their endurance 'and doubles confusion fill all the minds. The mother of the long mourned and legally deceased Kimmel coldly purns her self-styled son. It has been Stated that Mr. Kimmel had an Interest of $25,000 at the stake in denying her son. The fact Is, however, she already has collected $r,000 on her son's life and that the $25,000 policy written by a New York company

Riding a camel is by no means an easy or enjoyable method of locomotion, according to the description given by Mr. M. J. Randall In his book, "Slual In Spring:" "If asked 'How do you ride a camelV I reply invent as many attitudes as you can and employ them ail In turn; adjust and readjust the rugs and cushions on which you sit; ride straight; ride crooked; ride with stirrups made of rope; ride without them; hitch first your right knee round the front pommel, then your left knee; stretch your self wide legged over the saddlebags

regardless of the firearms, dates crockery, etc.. which they contain until nature commands you to make o less obtuse angle: ride side saddle, if you can persuade your Bedouin that It Is possible to do so without prejudice to the camel. Ride how you will and when you will. but', above all walk. Not only Is the sheik himself glad at your suggestion, but not otherwise to mount for awhile, but it is a lesson in graceful riding to watch him perched up there, heaven knows how. in some oriental way you have never dreamed of. and It is a lesson in courtesy to mark how at every turn of the road he offers to forego his pipe of peace chibouk and post of comfort and descend to the sand, leaving you to incumber his beast of burden."

Stumbled on the Will. Trills have often proved a stumbling block to the novelist. One flagrant case may be mentioned. A popular writer causes an old aristocrat to have his "last will and testament" -witnessed by his butler and his housekeeper, yet he makes them both benefit under it. By so doing he renders the will invalid. But the author does not know It

ELIGIBLE ATHLETICS FOR WORLD SERIES

Tired Tree. The condition of life In a tropical forest is sunlight, and to get to the top, where alone there is sunlight, is the constant aim of every tree. They have no winter's rest in the tropics, and they are so hard at work all d;iy long that at night the trees seem quite tired out From dawn to sunset the trees are hard at work. You can almost see some of them growing, and. as may naturally be supposed, they must have a little rest at night The tree is thoroughly exhausted, its branches lose their stiffness, while the leaves droop and fold themselves together. Unlike those of temperate cli mates, the trees of the tropics al!. more or less, show these signs of exhaustion toward "iirof Unconscious VerEification.
