Southland College Evangelistic and Church Extension Total FOUND HOT GUILTY (Palladium Special) ANDERSON, Ind., Sept. 21. Mrs. Artie Enoch-Moore, of the Chesterfield Spiritualists camp, formerly of Richmend, Ind., was declared to be not guilty of the charge of grand larceny by the jury which tried the case In-i the circuit court yesterday. But one ballot was necessary and the jury was out but a few minutes after receiving its charge from Judge Bagot. Cheer after cheer rang forth in the crowded court room when the verdict of the jury was read. The verdict was returned shortly after 5 o'clock last evening. After the trial Mrs. Enoch-Moore was greeted by her Spiritualist friends who remained In the court room dur ing the entire trial which started on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Enoch-Moore was alleged to have hidden several articles of jewelry which formerly belonged to Mrs. James Graves, who had been rooming at the Enoch-Moore cottage at the Spiritualists' camp ground and who was murdered on the night of August 7th by her husband. The jewelry was found hidden in various places in Mrs. Enoch-Moore's cottage. Her actions in refusing to permit a search Ot her house caused suspicion and an affidavit was filed against her by Miss Marguerite Graves, daughter of the murdered v.oman. Mrs. Enoch-Moore, when placed on the witness stand yesterday afternoon testified that she knew nothing about the hidden jewelry and that Mrs. Graves must have hidden the jewelry herself. It wad shown, in the evidence that there were no locks on the doors of the Enoch-Moore cottage and that everything pointed to the fact that Mrs. Graves feared being robbed and hid the jewelry in various places for this reason. Boehne, former mayor of Evan8ville, now First District congressman. The interview was on a matter which is of paramount inter, est to the city officials of Richmond at the present .time the water works question. k Of Municipal ownership, Congressman Boehne says: "The success achieved by the city government in the water works system demolished "and puts to naught the claims of private corporation spokesmen who either by pen or word claim Municipal ownership of a water works system a failure. I believed ' in the policy when I entered the office of mayor and my experience with the municipality owned water works Increased my faith in it. The people should own the light and wa ter works if nothing else." The water rate in Evansville is much cheaper than that proposed In the bids submitted for a franchise here. The flat rate for a six room dwelling with forty-feet frontage with water in the kitchen, bath room, clos et, basin and outside for sprinkling purposes is $13.50 annually. There are no meter rates for domestic consumers. For factories the rate ranges from 4 cents per 1,000 gallons to 40,000 per day to 20 cents per 1,000 gallons per day. relatives reside. The Waynes, who were slain, came from Medaryville, Pulaski county, Indiana,, where Mr. Wayne was a photographer. The crime is the most atrocious in the annals of Colorado's criminal history. The bodies of three children, two women and a man were found in two adjoining houses in the southwestern portion of the city. The head of each was crushed with an ax and the bodies were -mutilated. The victims were: Mrs. May Burnham, wife of the prisoner; her six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son ; Mrs. Blanche Wayne and Harry" Wayne and their one-year-old baby. Burnham is declared to have borrowed an ax from J. K. Evans, a neighbor, on Sunday night. All the victims were killed while asleep. The victims were last seen alive Sunday night. Since that time, Burnham has not been away from the Sanitarium, according to the medical director. - CITY ADVERTISEMENT. Department of Public Work. Office of the Board.
