There came near being a fatal acci

dent at Pierce's Lake Monday1 morning when Will Murphy's horse fright

ened at a tent in the park, and became unmanageable, throwing Mrs. Murphy

out violently, landing on her side and

rendering her helpless for a while.

Mr. Murphy held to the lines until ex

hausted and then was thrown out on

the ground with such force that he was unconscious for six hours. He was

badly hurt both internally and exter

nally. The buggy was wrecked beyond repair. It was Bloomingport's dar at

tne lake and the Murphy's were in the

crowd.
