and banking: corporations as "trustees" until the House committee is empowered to subpoena these trustees, there Is no way to tell for whom they are holding the property. There has been a persistent rumor in Washington for some months that members of the Senate and the House, bent on speculation, took advantage of yie opportunity In the land, knowing' from the way the Congressional wind was
blowing that before long the Government could be forced to pay a big price for the land it desired. Representative Sisson now has in his possession a list of these trustees. No member of Congress is mentioned by name, but the multiplicity of holders Indicates to Mr. Sisson that there are numerous ways in which public men might have become interested. The resolution demands to know whether any of the holders of
th etltle are related by blood or marriage, to any member of the House or Senate. "There is a great deal of suspicion attached to this property" said Mr.
r Sisson. "If It is unfounded, it is time fthat the matter should be cleared up.
If the suspicions, which- many of us have heard repeated, are well founded, then the public is entitled to know that members of Congress have taken advantage of their official position and of their advance knowledge of legislative Intentions and are attempting to "unload on the Government at great profit." The Sisson resolution has gone to the House committee on rules and it is probable that the House will
promptly order an Investigation of the entire question. It is predicted that sensational disclosures, involving more than one member of Congress and public official, will result.

The Sisson resolution opens up a branch of inquiry that is not confined in interest to Washington alone. It is
possible that members of Congress (from various sections will be discoviered as the owners of the property In I question. While there may be nothing ilegally amiss in such a condition of affairs, there is a well (leaned feeling at the capitol that a member of either Ibranch of Congress will make himself amendable to public criticism in the event that he takes advantage of his official knowledge to dabble in real (estate for the purchase of which, as a member of Congress, he may have votied or will vote. The Sisson resolution provides that ithe investigation of land titles shall jtoe conducted by a select House compnlttee comprised of three Democrats 'and two Republicans and the investigators will be given power to compel (the various "trustees" to produce evidence tending to show the real ownrs of the park property wanted by fcuncle Sam.

Prussia insists upon a school of law, sorely against the grain of the practical Hamburgers who think there are lawyers enough as it is, and tiiere will be two "philosophical" faculties (mental .and natural science); but the fourth faculty, that of colonial science, is to be the glory of the univehsity, and to give the new seat of learning its characteristic note. Those who object may think that the undertaking is rather like putting a roof on a house before the walls are standing; "but the Hamburgers, who practically made the German colonies, think otherwise, and we may rest assured that Hamburg's colonial university will soon be an established fact, and tVat nothing that the public spirit and munificence of her merchant princes can do to Insure its success will be left undone.

Ecclesiastical circles in Prussia are greatly excited by a decision in the highest Church court removing Pastor Carl Jatho from his office as cler
gyman of one of the congregations of the National Evangelical church at
Cologne. During Pastor Jatho s twen
ty years In Cologne he has greatly en
deared himself to his congregation by his amiable bearing and by the energy
and devotedness with which he conducts his ministerial work, while on
the other hand, he has, during the
past ten years given deep offense to !
many by the preaching of sermons which are regarded as wholly at vari
ance with the creeds of the National
Protestant church. He denies the existence of a person
al God, questions the existence of a fu
ture state, does not regard Christ as divine, and removes everything supernatural from religion. Orthodox

of years has in no way lessened the popular interest in Balreuth, and with
practically every seat for the season sold, the people of the little Bavarian
city are justified in looking for a ban

Meantime, in order that Wagnerians
who cannot be accommodated there
may not go entirely unsatisfied, the directors of the Prince Regent treater in Munich are also offering a Wagner cycle which will last through August
and will include the "ring," "Die Meistersinger" and "Tristan."

A St. Louis team was in the only
other big baseball wreck that has occurred in the last ten years. The Browns and the Cleveland team were traveling on a special train one night
in 1903 when they were wrecked at a
little town in Ohio. To get from Cleve
land to St. Louis for a double header
the clubs arranged for a special train consisting of two sleepers and an emp
ty baggage car.
At 1 o'clock in the morning, while
the train was running about forty
miles an hour, it was derailed. The
engine remained upright, but the bag
gage car was crushed like an eggshell and both sleepers were hurled into a
ditch. The wreckage was an awe-inspiring sight, yet not one man of the

churchmen Incensed by his somewhat committee of the German Navy Lea-
milltant unbelief, brought the case before the highest courts of the church, sitting in Berlin. The court consisted of 13 members, assisted by
Professor Harnack as theological assessor, and by a great majority sentenced Pastor Jatho to deprivation of his office as clergyman within the National church. In all probability Pastor Jatho will continue to be supported by his late congregation, and will continue to minister to them in some secular building, but he is apparently not the man who has any desire to pose as a martyr. Some of the best friends think he would have been wise to leave the church, with the tenets of which he was not in accord.' The decision to eject Pastor Jatho will stirr up the liberal elements of the church to still fiercer opposition, and numerous heresy trials are sure to be the results.

It is hard for any woman to believe that she can make a simple home remedy which will do her much more good and Cost her much less than the average made preparation. There is nothing in the world so effective for removing or preventing wrinkles, baggy cheeks and double chins, as a solution of saxolite and witch hazel Get an ounce of pure powdered saxolite from any drug store, dissolve the full ounce in a half pint of witch hazel and use the mixture daily as a refreshing lotion. When the two cylinder cars were popular, the public doubted for a short time the superiority of the new 'fours." The old builders of the "twos" "knocked" the "fours' until their material and supplies for "twos" were worked up and sold. Then they began to build "fours." The public was not long recognizing the superiority of the "four" over the two." Did you ever hear of a driver of a "four" going back to a "two"? "History repeats itself." Only recently a considerable part of the public was probably doubtful about the superiority of the "six" over the "four." The leading manufacturers are now building "sixes." The public has become convinced of their superiority. But a few manufacturers who are not quite ready to build "sixes" "knock" them. Did you ever hear f a driver of a "six" going back to a "four"? Let us demonstrate a McFarian Six to you. -
