Helen Greeley Also Says . Husband's Name Is Sign of Bondage. .New York, May 5. Married women Boon will drop tb "Mn." and the Christian names of their husbands if

Mrs. Helen Clay Greeley, a prominent worker for woman suffrage, has her way. Helen Hal Greeley, as she prefers to be' called, was one of three hundred speakers In a mass meeting of the woman suffrage party of the Twenty-third assembly district in Tammany Hall headquarters, 510 West One-Hundred and forty fifth street. . "What women of today want," she said, "is the eonrentlonal use of a name of their own. The title of 'Mrs.'

Is a mark of servitude, and its use Is no more dignified than the branding

of cattle with the name or mark of

. master. I admit It Is a good Idea to have a family name, but a married woman should drop the masculine first

name of her husband." Mrs. Greeley went to the meeting af

ter a trip to Harrlsburg, Pa., where she attended the suffrage hearing be

fore the state legislature. She said

she waa pleased with the progress of the suffrage movement was making in 'Other states, and said that it Is only

short time before the legislature in Albany will be so influenced it will rote to submit the question to the people. "This Important issue will be settled J by you men who have the right to ivote," she said to a group in the crowd of women. She pointed to the strides the cause 1s making In the west and called attcnitfon to the prosperity of Wyoming Colorado, and Utah, where women ' vote. She said it is only a question of a little while before Washington, Cal-

; norma, neorasKU ana Kansas win oe won over. Griffin Barry, not out of his teens, was a apeaker. He said women, as a i rule, have so many hours of leisure they would have more time to think of political affairs than men. "Women are natural housekeepers," the said, "and politics is only housekeeping on a big scale." Mrs. N. Coe Stewart callenged those present to ask her a single question i relating to the right of women to vote she could not answer, but no one accepted. The chairman of the woman's suffrage party In the district, the Rev. ; Annie J. Albach, Introduced the speakers. She la one of the most active workers of the party in Harlem and .frequently speaks in the mass meetings.

HOOVEN MAY GET HEATING MONOPOLY

Anderson, May 5. Superior Judge Austin has directed the receiver for the Home Heating company, of this city, to sell the company's plant. The order of sale followed a finding for the Anderson Trust company, trustee for $13,439 on first mortgage notes and foreclosure. The sale of the plant will be followed by the organization of a new company of local capital to enlarge it. C. W. Hooven, who controls the Anderson Gas company, is considering a new steam heating plant but definite action will not be taken until after the sale of the Home Heating company's property. The new whistling kettle has a long narrow neck at the top, by which it is both filled and emptied. This is covered by a cap over the length of the neck, and the top of this is a whistle which acts directly the whistle boils by reason of the steam passing through It.
