AfiDITRATIQII ACT REALLYJLLIAI1CE Terms of Anglo-American Treaty, Announced Today Are Very Startling. (American News Service) Washington, May 3. Tbe AngloAmerican arbitration treaty, several of mhose provisions, as now agreed upon by both nations, became public property today Is not merely a peace pact; It Is a closely drawn bond between the United States and Great Britain through which diplomats declare, the two KnglUh speaking nations will be found to present a united defensive front against the world. The new treaty makes the United States and Great Britain International brothers who shall act together in all disputes, whether such disputes include other nations or not. It is an agreement through which neither nation shall enter, into any new alliance with a third nation whatever. This peace pact makes the existing alliance, between Great Britain and Japan a subsidiary matter and any possible dispute between the United States and Japan will, upon the signing of the-new Anglo-American treaty virtually force Japan fo submit to arbitration. This was the Interpretation put upon the provisions of the pact by emlnentn authorities on international law. , Clauses of 1reatyj The' clauses ;of the treaty, as revealed today provide: That America and Great Britain agree to consider to enforce the settlement of all questions Involving the vital Interests, the independence and honor of the two contracting parties by means of arbitration and peace under such conditions snd for such a period of time as shall hereinafter be fixed. Differences which 'Would be impossible to settle by diplomacy shall be referred to the International court of arbitration at the Hague. ' That high commissioners shall be annotated by the two governments for

the settlement of disputes involving

vital questions.'; In cases involving a third Interest, if the third party is an ally of one of tbe contracting parties, tbe difference shall not be considered without the consent of the third party. In cases, however, where this third interest Is not an ally of one of the

two contracting parties, the dispute shall be arbitrated according to existing peace treaties.

That neither America nor England

shall enter into a treaty without mutual consent.

That each government shall pay its

own expenses and damage claims re

sultant from recognized claims arbitrated at tbe Hague. Each party is morally bound by the treaties of the other.

Washington, May 3. Not reciprocity, nor the farmers free list, insurgency or universal peace, but "That Whiskers Are a Greater Detriment to a Man than a Bald Head " was the serious problem to which the Capitol of the nation gave itself up last night. Nor has a solution yet been found, though Congressman Nicholas Longworth, of Ohio, and Senator "Bob" Taylor, of Tennessee, representing the gilded domes, and former Senator Carter and ex-Speaker Cannon, contending for the bearded bards, learnedly, and at times brilliantly, discussed the moot point at the National Press Club last night. At the end of the exciting debate, Scott Bone, the referee, declared that the arguments were so evenly balanced that he was unable to render a decision, calling upon Speaker Champ Clark, who isn't either whiskered or bald headed, to act the part of Solomon. And -Clark, with a far-away

Presidential look in his eye, promptly sent the whole matter to the Ways and A MISSISSIPPI JMTHUSIAST Kirs. Lena Gresham, of Clinton, Miss., Has a Few Facts to Tell Our Readers About CarduL Clinton, Miss. "Thanks to Cardui," writes Mrs. Lena Gresham, of this place, "I have been greatly relieved." I suffered for three years from female Inflammation, and had taken medicine from four different physicians without much benefit 'I have received more benefit from seven bottles of Cardui, than from all the physicians." Just try Cardui. That's all we ask. It speaks for itself. It has helped so many thousands, it must be able to help you. Trying Cardui won't hurt you. It is safe, harmless, gentle in action, and purely vegetable. If you are weak, tired, down and out, try Cardui. If you are sick, miserable, and suffer from womanly pains, like headache, backache, dragging feelings: pains, in side, arms, legs, etc. try Cardui. It is the medicine for all women. Means Committee, which even now has under consideration all questions relating to wool, hides, skins, hair and the like. It has been widely advertised, and long awaited, this Press Club combat tonight, which was to define at length

the relative merits of shining pates against the hirsute lace curtain and the assembly room of the club was jammed with men upon whose spoken word the nation tremblingly waits. No barbers were adrnittsJ. Scott Bone, who has sufficient hair to fill a mattress and a most malignant mustache, was selected as timekeeper, and Dr. Wiley, the pure food expert, slightly bald and smooth of face, was se

lected to hold the watch. Marquis of Queensberry rules were adopted and each speaker was allowed 10 minutes. As the gladiators entered the ring, they were greeted with wild applause. "Nick" Ijongworth arrived late, explaining that at the last minute he had gone to the barber's for a close shave bo great is his aversion to any beard at all. Senator Carter had his Uncle Sam whiskers carefully combed for the occasion, while Uncle Joe's beard jutted out and pointed to all points

of the compass.
