A great many stories have been written and a great many plays produced dealing with the earth life of Christ, but the most famous religious romance and the only enduring drama dealing with this subject has been General Lew Wallace's "Ben-Hur" which will be seen at the Gennett theater on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, May 4, 5, and 6. This fine romance, with all the brilliant pageantry, the barbarity and intense religious enthusiasm of that period of the world's history, when put into dramatic form raised a wave of admiration from the Atlantic to the Pacific, for Klaw and Erlinger's colossal production of Wallace's biblical story is the most remarkable and majestic spectacle ever staged. It is a fascinating, masterly creation that ought to be seen at least once; most people want to see it more than once. for it interests the eye .touches the intellect and moves the heart. Artistically, this season's production is greater than ever. Their Baby" the successful musical ! comedy which will be the attraction at the Gennett tonight a splendid com-; pany being reported in support of the star. The countess has pleased the Richmond people in "The Girl at the Helm" and other large musical productions. Also she has pleased NewYorkers and strangers in that city, having been prima donna for several big musical attractions on Broadway. Her ability to act, sing and dance, and her charming personality have made her desirable for engagement. She has been steadily building up a personal following since her stage debut. Although by birth, a native German countess, she is thoroughly American in all things, and there is nothing of the foreigner about her tastes or her language. She proudly proclaims herself an American through naturalisation. A very close relation of the
same surname married the daughter of Collis Huntington, the American railroad millionaire, and the millions that went with the lady. Hut station has not turned the head nor affected the charming manners of the vountess Olga. She is an entertaining, generous little lady who is greatly loved by her associates, and who is going to continue her conquests of the theatergoing public. She is winning success upon her merits, without relying upon any assistance from that title, wearing the latter because it is her birthrights and not primarily for advertising purposes. Her work as Mrs. Newlywed has been nicely complimented on in every city in which she has appeared, and the indications are that the countess and the company will delight many.
