PLOW OF ORATORY STILLJOHTIIIUES And Vote on Canadian Reciprocity Bill May Be Delayed to Friday. (Palladium Special) Washington, April 20. After nearly a week of continued debate, the Canadian reciprocity bill may come to a vote In the house late this afternoon or tonight. There is a possibility the debate may be extended into tomor row, although Representative I nderwood, in charge of the measure, is doing his best to shut off the constant flosv of oratory for and against the measure. Many new members have maiden speeches up their sleeves, which they want, to get into the Congressional Record. Those who want to expedite the passage of the bill in the house are trying to persuade some of these speakers to postpone their orations until the free list bill Is called up next week. Another opportunity for oratory will, be afforded then. The contending factions started off today with an even division of time. The "old guard," which Is violently opposed to reciprocity with ; Canada, probably played its trump card when Uncle Joe Cannon spoke for three hours and twenty minutes against, the bill yesterday. SMALLEST PRAYER
Lord's Prayer Engraved Ordinary Pin Head. on Philadelphia. April 20. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania will soon become the possessor of three pins. While the pins look like the ordinary steel or brass, pins, the trustees of the historical society say that as soon as they become custodians of the seemingly insignificant gifts they will be given a conspicuous place in the museum. On the heads of the three pins are engraved probably more characters than on any three similar pins in existence. Paul 1'. Wentz. a jeweler, of Sharon. Pa., has a natural talent for engraving. Having spent less than two months in an engraving school, he was graduated with honors, and was termed by his instructors as a "phenom." A few weeks ago he first got the idoa to engrave characters on the heads of ordinary pins, and the success he met with can be determined by a visit to the historical society rooms. On an ordinary brass pin. measuring less than two millimeters, Wentz has engraved the Ixrd"s Prayer and his name, a total of 336 characters. True, they can not be deciphered without the aid of a magnifying glass, but with the aid of a, glass the prayer can be read with ease. The work of engrav Saturday Special at The Flower i Shop.
