An account of the publication was printed yesterday. In the paper or magazine is a story written by Miss Elaine Jones of this city who is hIko a member of the local I'si lota Xi sorority. Two important weddings for the week will be that of Alias Katherinc Schneider, daughter tf Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schneider, and Mr. Frank Hrown, to be celebrated Tuesday evening, and that of Miss Magdalena Kngelbert and Mr. Gaar Williams on Saturday.

MUSICAL EVENT. An important musical event for the week Is the recital to be given Wednesday evening in the Pythian Temple by Mr. J. Louis Shenk, a noted tenor of Dayton. Ohio. The affair is under the local management of Mr. Fred Crowe, a newspaper man. Mr. Shenk will render the same program that he recently sang at Dayton. Ohio. It is a well selected one and the concert will no doubt be a delightful event.

CLUB MET. The Hiawatha social and literary club met with Mrs. Carl Maker at her home in Chestnut street. Twentytlve members were present. The afternoon was pleasantly spent in reading and with music. D. A. R. MEETING. The Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday afternoon with MrB. K. II. Grosvenor at her home in the National Road west. Mrs. Grosvenor was assisted in entertaining by Miss Edith Moore. A large number of the members were in attendance. There were two guests, Mrs. Morris-

The announcement that Mr. Aurele Borriss. of Earlham college, has been engaged as a soloist for the Richmond May Festival of 1!11 wi'.l be greeted with pleasure by all who have heard him. To such no commendation of the vocal art of Mr. Borriss is now necessary. In the two recitals he has given during this season, one at Earlham college and one in Pythian temple, he has amply proven himself to be a singer of rich vocal endowment, generous understanding, fine and warm feeling and thorough training, and one whose readings are authorative. Richmond is fortunate in securing the services of a teacher and singer of such capability; and it is but proper recognition that Mr. Borriss is to sing on each of the three programs ot the Festival. Mr. Borriss is a native of Germany. In Berlin and otlier cities he studied the physiology of voice production and the art of singing, also musical theory and composition, under the best teachers of Europe. Following this period he had several years of experience as
