BY JOHBL LAMB White House Possibility Says Tcrrc Haute Alan "on a Washington Visit.
W'aMhlnRfon. April, 13. John K. Lamb, of Tvrrr Haute, after looking things over h-re for twenty-four hours Raid ymtrrdny. "I think Governor Marshall is in tho bent )OHltlon of any candidate for the Democratic nominatior K-o in mind that he lives In a plate which is fighting ground, and has ever been fighting ground. Io rot forget, cither, that Governor Marfhall Ih the flrnt Homo crnt who haH carried Indiana ulnce Claude Matthew was elected governor In 1M2. "Governor Mnrhliall gave such a splendid iidministrailon during his flrct two years that lie became the. con troll I in; force in the lanf elect ion that gave the Democrats of Indiana the legislature and every official In the tttatehoiiKc for the firm time In many years. "Then, it should not he overlooked that under the Mari-hall management, of party affairs tl.n KepuhlicaiiK have ro senators and t he one lone Republican out of thirteen In congress. Why should I not insist on Marshall as a candidate fr President? He comes of distinguished Virginia ancestry, from the name Marshall family that gavethe nation Chief Justice Marshall, and our governor Is himself noted as a lawyer. Not only do the Democrats of Indiana admire him, but he has the n jvprobation of fair-minded Republicans because of his clean administration and sensible ways of doing things. He Is careful and prudent; he not only preaches, but he practices and that means much In politics." Kern Not A Candidate. "What about Senator Kern as a jHtssible presidenta! candidate?" was iimImmI of Mr. bmli. "I have been with John Kern since 1 arrived here and have talked tho Iiolltlca of our state with him," resHmlcd Lamb, "and I do not think Senator Kern has any intention of being h candidate. Hence, I insist that Governor Marshalf will have the Indiana delegation and it will be instructed for hltn. We, the united Democrats of Indiana, have never had a nominee for President. It is our turn. We believe the nomination of Marshall would unite the party In every section and lead us to victory. He has no manager, except that every loyal
Democrat In the state Is a self-appointed manager, eager to bring about the nomination of the Governor for President." Considerable Interest is felt In Democratic circles over the burying of the hatchet between W. It. Hearst and William J. Dryan, both of whom have been In Washington for several days. Hearst and Hryan met at a dinner given by Nathan Straus, of New York, who is quoted as authority for the statement that in the future Hearst and Hryan will work in perfect accord and amity. Hearst and Hryan also mt at a luncheon given by General Nelson A. Miles and this made plain the restoration of friendly relations between them. "Colonel Hryan and Mr. Hearst,"
said Mr. Straus, "will in the future, work together. They have agreed to j forget their differences and present a1 united front to the country. I was j extremely glad to bear them talking i along the game lines and working toge t her." j Mr. Hearst before leaving here' praiser Champ Clark and expre ssed j
his belief in the brightness of Democratic! prospects. "The present promising conditions in the Democratic party," he said, "have been brought about by the fact that the Democratic party under the leadership of Champ Clark has bad the courage to be progressive and the intelligence to be sound in its Democracy." This sentiment, coming from Mr. Hearst, prompted the suggestion that one of the things on which he and Mr. Hryan are in accord is the presidential nomination of Mr. Clark. It is no secret that Hryan looks with favor on Clark's aspirations in this direction and Hearst's statement would indicate that he did, too.
BACK TO WALDORF FOR MTY GREEN Richest Woman in the World Gives Up Dark Little Flat in Hoboken.
New York, April 13. More high life for Hetty Green, the woman with something like $40,00,OOO. No more Hoboken for her. The little flat over there will be closed on May 1, the regualr moving day when her lease will expire, and Mrs. Green, it is understood, will take up her life with her son. the large and mighty Colonel Kdward H. Green, who jumped from Texas to the Waldorf a year ago. No one will undertake to say how long Mrs. Green will remain at the Waldorf. For there was a prediction when she moved into the Plaza, a little over a year ago, that she had thrown economy and the simple life to the winds. She had done noting of the kind. High life palled on her, and
she went back to tne dark and somber Hoboken flat for another year. But Colonel Green is a large and hearty man who can't be hid under a bushel, nor in a Hoboken flat, and he insisted on seeing some cf the good things of life when he took up his residence in New York. Already Mrs. Green has spent several days at the Waldorf with her son. and she seemed to like the life there well enough to continue. Maybe one cause of the change of mind is the fact that she was taken the other day with indigestion, from which she is yet Suffering. Whether is was the cooking in the Hoboken flat or some other place is not known, but the report of her decision to change her home followed closely on the attack. For several days Mrs. Green was ;v guest in the home of Mrs. Kamp, an old friend, at 640 Madison avenue, and she has not seen much of the little Hoboken flat for a week. It is just tossible that she will not go there again except to pack up and get out.

GUGGENHEIM WILL RETIRE AS SENATOR
Washington, April 13. Senator Guggenheim of Colorado has had enough. He will not be a candidate for re-election at the expiration of his term in the senate one year from next March. He has not made the announcement formally, but has indicated his purpose to retire when he has completed his present service. Sen. Guggenheim lias been assailed from time to time because of the conection of the Guggenheim family with copper production. This is not understood to have influenced him in making his decision but rather a dislike for the drudgery of politics.

liie KMC Wide Spread fllo. 6
IT'S ALL IN THE BEATER This is absolutely the greatest invention in the manure spreader construction, for the demand has always been for a narrow spreader that would spread wide and spread even. It is easy to make wide spread machines by using paddle wheels and extra attachments, but these only increase draft and absolutely will not give an even spread. THE RUDE WIDE SPREAD does just what we claim and it is accomplished by our peculiar beater construction. The double diagonal cylinder above has the outer ends low in the bed and they throw their part of the load (which is about two-thirds) away from the center and the-auxiliary cylinder in the lower part of the bed throws the remainder of the load directly behind the machine, thus filling the center. A Narrow Tread A Wide Spread An Even Spread THE PRACTICAL FARMER wants a MANURE SPREADER that substantially tracks with a wagon; one that will spread a heaped load and spread it evenly; one that spreads beyond the wheels; one that is very strong and one that will not break. This farmer wants the RUDE WIDE SPREAD for it is just that kind of a machine and there is no other on the market that will fill the bill. . Other Leading Features
