The rooms of Miss Nora Murphy, Miss Minnie Marshall and Miss Emma Gtnrlch, of the Milton public schools, will observe a patriotic day Friday afternoon at the school ball The exercises will be appropriate to Washington's birthday and Lincoln's day. Everybody is invited. Miss Nell Goodwin, of Connersvllle, Is visiting Mrs. James Debots. Miss Ruby Kellam and Miss Eunice McClung sang a duct at the M. E. church services last night. The title was "Angles Bear the News to Mother." - Dr. J. E. King, of Richmond, visited his aunts' Miss Helena and Miss Vina Beesoa, south of town and looked aftere the Interests of his farm. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Routh. and daughter, Mr. Mitchell, of the Cambridge City schools, and Dr. and Mrs. Wright, of Cambridge City, formed a party with R. F. Calloway and aunt, Mrs. Barton, 'Sunday evening. Mrs. W1U lllgham, of Brownsville, visited relatives here and at Cambridge City yesterday. The Embroidery club which was to have met this afternoon with Mrs. Robert Beeson at the home of her lster-ln-law, Mrs. Will II. Brown, was postponed owing to the death of her daughters, Mrs. J. A. Brown and Mrs. L. M. Gentle, who are members of the club. Charles Calloway received the following clipping taken from the Examiner of San Francisco, telling of the deata of Dr. Carroll Thasher, son of tr. Marion Thasher of that city. His death was caused from heart trouble. Us received his professional education at Trinity and Cooper colleges. Me was surgeon for the police department- of that city at one time and ' during ' the Spanish-American war had charge of. the smallpox hospital in that city. Brown is a member of the class. Mr. and Mrs. Pohn Faucett visited friends at Brookville over last night. Mrs. Scott, from near Conersville, will move to the Rev. Mr. Marlatt's farm vacated by Edw. Trine, east of town. Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Gentle were called from Richmond. Tuesday night by the sudden death of Mrs. Gentle's mother. Mrs. Mary St Clair. . A. M. W. 3rd. 22-7t What might have been a serious fire was discovered in time to prevent a great loss, at the borne of Will Replogle, east of town, Saturday night. Mr. Replogle was awakened at two o'clock by the smell of smoke. Upon investigation it was found that the smoke pipe of the furnace had become too hot and a sill had caught fire, burning on up between the plastering, the lath. Shafer of the German Baptist Insurance Co. adjusted the loss at $20. Merton W. Grills spent a day recently in Dayton hunting through the recorder's office for information con cerning the Humbert's. Mr. Grills was appointed historian at the Humbert family reunion two years ago and has since been busy tracing the ancestry. He finds that six Humbert brothers emigrated to America. Of these one family moved into the vicinity of Dayton about 1800. This family he is now trying to locate. The annual Humbert reunion will be held at Muncie the third Wednesday in August this year. Mrs. Will Abbott entertained the members of the Five "Hundred club Monday afternoon. Mrs. Joe Teetor and Mrs. Albert Jones substituted for absent members. Mrs. Tuts was given the favor. The decorations were in keeping with Washington's birthday, and the favors were cherries. The next meeting of the club will be on Saturday, March 4th with Mrs. R. R Brant.
