The man's tongue was immovable and he, unable to murmur a word, informed the infirmary physician and Superintendent Brumfield of bis trouble by gesticulating vigorously. Home Remedies Used. Late Wednesday afternoon the attention of Mr. IJrumfield was called to the man's condition. Home remedies were resorted to as it was not known what the man's trouble was. About 7 o'clock the infirmary physician was called. He at once diagnosed the case as lockjaw. Meyers, who is a native of Germany had been an inmate of the Institution less than a week. About ten days ago while intoxicated, it is said, be fell in a South Sixth street livery stable. About his only injury was a small bruise on the left 'knee. It did not trouble him in the least and little attention was paid to the wound. It is thought the man's filthy condition affected the wound, resulting in the dread disease.
