BELIEVES A WOMAN MURDERED GLOVER But Judge Bond Is Firm in Belief that Hattie Le Blanc Is Innocent.
(American New Service) Boiton, Dec. 20. Judge Daniel W. Bond who presided at the trial of Hattie Leblanc, has declared tbatn bis belief a woman murdered Clarence F. Glover, according to an Interview with him published hero today. He also declared his belief that Hattl Lc-blanc knew who killed Glover, although be was emphatic In bis belief In ber Innocence. He did think aba was In the laundry at the time of the shooting but be believes she knows who fired the fatal shot. "There Is ground for believing," Judge Bond said, "that Hattie returned to the Glover houao for the laundry Mrs. Glover suggested that it was best for ber to bide until she could be gotten away." He declared Hattie Leblanc to be absolutely Immune from prosecution as an accessory to the murder of Glover, In event any other person should be named as the one who actually did the shooting. Continuing his discussion of the famous murder mystery Judge Bond Intimated that his belief In Hattie's Innocence Is so strong that he would have set the verdict aside had the Jury brought in a verdict of guilty. He said that he felt that nothing had been brought out in the trial to justify further action by the state and that the whole matter might as well be dropped. WONDERFUL REMEDY
That's What is Said of Stomach Prescription Guaranteed by Leo H. Fine. Stephen Walte of Lansing, Michigan writes: For over three years I suffered much pain and annoyance from stomach disease. I had no help from my digestive organs apparently, and my food would stay In my stomach and ferment, causing gas; there was also a dizzy headache. I doctored and used every remedy that I heard of, but it remained for MI-O-NA to cure me entirely. Before I had used three boxes my appetite and digestive organs became all righf. It is a wonderful remedy. MI-O-NA stomach tablets are small and easy to swallow. They stop the most painful stomach distress in five minutes. They drive out sourness and gas and make the stomach clean and sweet. They are sold by Leo H. Fihe under a positive guarantee to cure any case of indigestion or money back. They put vigor and vitality into people run down by indigestion. Sold by Leo II. Fihe and leading drugglBts everywhere at 50 cents a large box. At Local Theaters "Polly of the Circus." If half of the theatrical offerings taught as uplifting lessons as does Frederic Thompson's "Polly of the Circus," there would be less need of sermons and churh services. This admirable Vlay will be seen at the Gennett on Thursday. Its success. is instant and emphatic for "Polly of the Circus" appeals as strongly to the intelligent playgoer as a drink of pure spring water to a thirsty person. It tells a beautiful story revealing the budding and blossoming love in the heart of a winsome little maid and the heart of a strong, fearless Christian gentleman. It tells in a simple manner how these two, originally as far separated in social and Intellectual conditions as the poles, were inevitably drawn together despite the horrified resistance of narrow minded bigots so often found in this world of ours. The play Is delightfully enriched with ine character drawing. It is not a one part story. Instead, there are at least ten very strong roles and must be played by very competent actors and actresses and every one of them is admirably played and portrayed. Miss Edith Spears who plays the part of "Polly," has a part that is fitted for her, and as lovable, untrain ed little circus rider suddenly thrown amid refinements of a minister's home striving mightily to be more worthy of the friendship of the man she has grown to almost worship, she is irresistible. . . "Jumping Jupiter." The best of all the season's musical comedies is "Jumping Jupiter," the new Carle and Rosenfeld success, that is coming to the Gennett on Monday, January 9, with the original cast of favorites, including Richard (himself) Carle, Edna Wallace Hopper (specially engaged), Will Phllbrick, Cherlda Simpson, Ina Clairo, Dorothy Maynard, Burrell Barberetto, Garrick Major, Jessie C. Crawford and all the other artists seen during the sensational run at the Cortland theater, Chicago. "House of Thousand Candles. All the salient points contained in Meredith Nicholson's novel "The House of a Thousand Candles" will be found in the dramatization that will be presented at the Gennett on Saturday matinee and evening. There is the odd and mysterious house itself, the peculiar rooms, the hidden pas sages, the hair raising noises, the shots from nowhere, the storming of the grounds by the sheriff, the finding of the secret hiding places and above all the sudden appearance of old Glenarm, who mysteriously returns from the grave. All these incidents and a score of others are contained In the four acts and go to make a play oversowing with interest. Special scenery for all the settings are carried and the' company Is said to be decidedly capable. Trads Winds. The causes-Of the trade winds are tbe displacement of tbe air at the equator and the motion of the eerth. The cole air from the poles ta constantly flow lng towasd the equator, thus produc Ing northerly winds in the northern hemisphere and southerly winds ia the southern. These winds are deflected from their natural course, however, by the ivioTemeut of the earth as It re volves on Its axis from east to west and ss the rotation of the earth is more rapid at the equator than elsewhere it happens that the speed is there so great as to outstrip the move ments of the air from the poles, force thein into another direction and give rise to the currents known as the trade winds. Thousand County Claimants Do Not Want Money. ' BaaBBBaaaMaBBa 7 . Wayne county is indebted to more than a thousand of its residents in sums varying from seventy-five .cents up to Ive dollars and while county officials are willing to make the settlements they cannot because the citizens apparently are not anxious to collect. It is probable that the total amount of unpaid claims is in the neighborhood of $5,000. The unpaid accounts are for witness fees in inquests conducted by Coroner A. L. Bramkamp, for road work and other services performed for the county at the order of some one of its officials. Those to whom the money is due have been notified by County Auditor Demas Coe, but for Borne reason they have never called at the court house to make the collection. 500 PERISH IN AN OCEAN EARTHQUAKE (American News Service) Port Limon, Costa Rico, Dec. 20. BOSTON LIGHT. " It la Said to Be , the Oldest Harbor Baaeon In America. The outer light of Boston harbor is Boston light, elsht miles bew the city and at the very outer end of the channel that ocean liners follow. It stands on Little Brewster island, a pile of rocks partly grassed over in its gentle hollow on the sheltered side. Three families live here those of the head keeper and his two assistants. In all the inhabitants number a dosen 6ouls. Tho light ltelf ia said to be the oldest In America, built in 1713 by the government of England. It is of rough bowlder stone, hooped with iron bauds, and its lean, whitewashed form Is a landmark and seamark far and wide. A rustic iron ruliway for carrying coal leads up from thi? waterside to the engine house, whore is an engine and boilers ia which steam is kept up contiuually to operate the siren foghorns. Their gTeat trumitet-Uke forms protrude through the wall of the buildlug ou the seaward ride. In fogjry weather one can hear from the opotl wir.du-.vs the faroff mooing of th foghorn ou the Boston lightship, seven miles away, as the keepers on the lightship can hear this one at Boston light. An old cannca lies on tlie ground near the lighthouse. It was provided by thy Cunard Steamship company before the foghorn was installed to give signals. It is unused now. li.u In addition to the great revolving light in the tower there is a set of red and white range lights that give the location of anchorage for vessels in the channel. If they see red It means that Ihey are out of their prorer location, but if white they lire safe. New York Mail.
