Joseph Jones who has instituted litigation to collect a bill of $579.23, for the making of medfcal 'concoctions from dandelions, shepherd's purse, peach leaves, inurdock and a variety of other botanical - subjects, against Dr. Frank Harold of this city and his father. Dr. I. 0. Harold,, formerly of Richmond but no practicing In Oregon, Is demanding that, bis case be tried. lie does not like the American custom of continual postponements of trial and delays .in making up the Issues. Kvery little delay peeves him. It Is more than probable that the case will be tried durlnjr the holidays when Dr. I. S. Harold wilt, ba In the city on a visit. A motion ha beeu filed In the court asking that Jones separate tho bill's Dr. Frank-Harold and his tuihcr huve not been hi partershlp as long aa alleged.

(American News Service) Madrid, Dec. 15. Famine and pestilence are following in the wake of terrific cyclones which have swept Spain from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean. Torrential rains have left the rivers out of their banks and scores of villages are either cut off today ar are deserted. Scores of men and women have been driven mad by the flood borors. In some parts of the interior roads, bridges and railroad tracks have been washed away. Many buildings have collapsed. Premier Canalejand his ministry held a conference today to prepare a bill for the relief of the sufferers. The British steamship Gravina was almost demolished by being dashed against a Jetty at Corunna by

MINISTERS OPPOSE FIVE CENT SHOWS

(Palladium Fpeilal) The Cambridge City Ministerial association took steps at a recent meeting to prevent any form of amusement being given in the five cent theaters. The ministers claim such entertainments are in violation of the state statutes and the divine law. and that they are usually objectionable.

(Palladium Special) Eaton. O., Dec. 15. A verdict favoring the defendant in the damage case filed by William C, Horine against Llda Mundhenk et al.. was returned Wednesday by the jury after short deliberation. Horine claimed that the defendant failed to comply with the agreements of a contract, refusing to complete a deal whereby he was to trade his stock of groceries at New Madison for their farm, near Eaton. lie claimed damages in the sum of $1,000 were incurred, and sought a Judgment in that amount.

TO CONFER DEGREE ON PROF. A. HOLE

Prof. Allen D. Hole of Earlhara college will pe given a degree of philosophy by the Chicago university. His thesis was an original research work In the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

FRANK DAVIS SENT TO THE WORKHOUSE

Up to bis old tricks again, Frank Davis of this city, was arrested in Dayton and sentenced to the workbouse for sixty days for petit larceny. Davis has been in trouble here a number of times.
