(Amsrlcan Nsws Service)
- New York, Dec. 12. All followers Cf the national game will be Interest 4 In the series of league meetings which began In this city today and will occupy the greater part of the ek. Three distinct meetings of gkree different leagues are scheduled, and when the proceedings are "conSuded It Is expected that several lmrtant points affecting the coming season now In the doubtful column wltl hare been definitely settled. Today the Knstern league magnates began their annual conclave at the Waldorf-Astoria. The big little organKitlon had a prosperous season this ar and the owners of the several luba were In a pleasant frame of Bind when they Ot Into session bpEl nd closed doors. Nevertheless, the froverblal harmony attending the annual meeting may not be written with quite so large an "II" as tho public has been led to bellve. The election of a president for the coming year Is as matter concerning which the magpistes are said to bo not all of ono nind, and which may precipitate Ome lively discussion In the meeting. Patrick T. Powers hopes to be re-elec-8d to the presidency and it is under ood has the support of some of the elub owners. Others, however, are aald to bo of the opinion that a change in the head of the league t p&tteMmroQic Poison

and Cures Rheumatism.
J. Kvcr since Leo II. Fine secured the privilege of handling Rheuma in Rich?ond, the sales have been very large. This Is due to the fact that Rheuma iall does cure Rheumatism, and that It Is guaranteed to curd Rheumatism or money back. It's a quick acting remedy, too. You don't have to watt a long while for results, fur Rheuma starts at once to act on the kidneys, liver, bowels and Blood, and before 24 hours the poisonous Uric Acid, which causes Rheumatism, has Lepun to pnss out of the body through the regular channels. One 50 cent bottle will prove to any Rheumatic Kufferer that Rheuma surely will cure Rheumatism.

Family Cough Syrup Cures Any Cough In Five Hours NEW PRESCRIPTION HERE. " Here is given the most effective cough prescription known to the med-
I ical world. It is a mild .axauve, too, (and this is what a body needs when I suffering with cough and cold on the ! lungs. A cough or cold Indicates polj sons in tho system, causing inflammation and conjection. Nearly all 'cough syrups relieve, but make the (trouble worse by their constipating ef1 fects. This prescription not only relieves quickly but it cures any cough that is curable. Get one-half ounce fluid wild cherry bark, one ounce co:npound essence cardlol and three ounces syrup wihte pine compound. Mix in a bottle. Take for acute cough or bronchitis twenty drop every half hour for four hours. Then one-half to one t-aKKnful three cr four times dally. Give children less according to bro. A few hours treatment will cure and heal the throat and lungs of all but consumptives. Cut this out and 'give It to some friend who may need It to be saved from an early deati by consumption. j would be to the benefit of the organization and it Is said to be their Intention to dethrone the genial Pat and give the r residency to Ed Barrows, the Montreal manager. Harrows la an active candidate for the place and is said to be confident of election. No strife Is in sight for the annual meeting of the National league, which will be held tomorrow at the Hotel Flrcalln. Thomas J. Lynch, who was made head of the league as a compromise after the bitter fight last year is practically sure of ro-election to ithe presidency. The New York, Pittsl burg, Cincinnati and Boston clubs aro 'certain to vote for him, and if he has ;no other supporters he will hold over
as chief executive for another year by reason of a ruling made last winter, that four of the eight votes would keep him In office. Messrs. Brush, Hermann and Drey fuss are in favor t! making the term of office five year:., Instead of one, and they aro going to
I fight hard for such a change in the
league's constitution. This may cause some friction at the meeting tomorrow, but it la generally believed that Mr. Lynch will finally carry the day and will receive a unanimous vote. So far as can be learned no opposition candidate is being boomed for the place.
i Except for the election of four directors two from the eastern and two
from the western clubs there will not be a great deal of business to occupy tho attention of, the American league magnates when they get together for their annual meeting at the Hotel Wolcott Wednesday. The presidency of the league will not be involved at this meeting as Ban Johnson has been voted what is practically a life tenure of the Job. The club owners will engage in some preliminary discussion as to the playing dates for 1911 and probably' some deals and trades of players may be consummated. Then the magnates will adjourn to reassemble In the spring to complete the schedule and otherwise arrange for the season of 1911.

Balance of Power. A thorough organization of laTxtr directed by wise and conservative leadership is the strongest fortification that can be established for the conservation of our republican form of government. It is the strongest guarantee that our constitutional liberties will be protected and perpetuated. Without such an effective balance of power Tre will become a Judicial monarchy controlled by selfish moneyed Interests that will lead the nation back to the oppression and the tyranny that our forefathers fought against and from which . they successfully es
caped.
