NOBEL PRIZES ARE AWARDED SATURDAY Board of Directors of Nobel Institute Meet at Stockholm Tomorrow.

(American News Service) Stockholm, Dec. 9. The board of directors of the Nobel Institute win meet tomorrow to make formal announcement of the award or the Nobel prizes for 1910. No Americans will be included In the Ilt of recipients

this year. The physics prize is to bo warded to Prof. Van Der Waals of

Amsterdam; the prize for medicine to Or. Albrecht Kossel of Heidelberg;

and the literature prize to Dr. Paul

Johann Ludwlg Jleyes; the prize for chemistry to Dr. Otte Wallach of the

The Nobel prizes, numbering five, of the average value of $40,000 each, are

riven annually to those who have done the most useful work during the year In literature, physical science, chemistry, physiology or medicines and for the propaganda of peace. The Nobel Foundation which has the awards In charge was established by the late Alfred R. Nobel, the Inventor of dynamite, who died In 1896, bequeathing his fortune, estimated at $9,000.000, to the founding of tho fund. The prizes for physics and chemistry are awarded by the Swedish academy of science, that for physiology or medical work by the Caroline lnstltute( the-faculty of medicine in Stockholm); that for literature by the Swedish academy In Stockholm, and the peace prize Is awarded by a committee of five persons elected by tho Norwegian BtorthinR. Up to the present time only two Americans have received the Nobel prises. They are Prof. Albert A. Nicholson, of the University of Chicago, who was awarded the prize for phytic In 1907, and Theodore Roosevelt, who received the peace prize in 1906, In recognition of his efforts to end the war between Russia and Japan.

Gaynor, wlio are nearing the end of five year sentences for conspiracy to defraud the United States Governmerjt and whose applications for parole were recently considered by the Federal Parole Board, will be released from the big prison in Atlanfa in time to eat Christmas dinner with their families. During the long imprisonment of the two men their families have resided nearly the whole time in Atlanta and have been constant visitors at the Federal prison.
