FACTORY GIRLS GO OUT JIH STRIKE It Is Probable the Glove Factory at Eaton, O., Will Shut Down as Result.
(Palladium Special) Raton. O., Nov. 28. Denied their de
mand for an Increase tn wages, 36 machine gtrU employed at the plant of the Indianapolis Glove company struck Saturday, and their action will doubtless seriously handicap the operations f the concern; perhaps, to such an extent that a complete shut-down may result. Some time since the girls submitted to a reduction in wages of one cent n the dozen pairs of rloves, tut a t)ODus of five per cent, of their weeK's wages was held up to them for full time. If they missed a day or hour this bonus was withdrawn. Further Adding to their grievances, It is said the machine operators were compelled to work upon rnoro than one lot, 12 dozen, square-top or knit-wrist gloves per week. They claim they have been compelled to work out six to eight dozen pairs of this kind per week. Tlicy further Insisted that the bonus system adopted had not been carried out as argeed upon. Whereupon, Saturday morning the young women demanded the bonus that was their due. This was received with the explanation from Superintendent, O. R. Coutant, that a burden cf office work had prevented the earlier puyment of the money. Still In fighting mood, they then demanded that the old schedule of wages be agreed upon, and meeting with a refjHal from Superintendent Coutant they refused to stitch another mitt, and went home. Twenty-two machine girls agreed to return to work Monday, but they will be unable to turn out enough work to keep young men In other departments buoy, so It It likely that a complete Khut-down will follow, perhaps December 1, according to the superintendent. The factory throughout employed about 85 persons. When the 22 returned to work today they were to be governed by the wages that have lately been paid, and tro five per cent bonus system will obtain. However, the hours of labor will 1m reduced from nine to eight, and they have no assurance that they will work the wook out. Machine girls employed there made from 16 to $16 per week, the latter figure being exceptional. Miss Itertha llerbst Is the most expert machine operator, always commanding the highest wages each week.

FRANCES STARR. Att the Gennett, Monday Decsmber J.
Girl In the Taxi" has delighted its thousands of playgoers may be taken as a criterion, we may look forward to the greatest attraction the theater has offered in years.
"The Chorus Lady." Patricia O'Brien, queen of the front row and never failing apostle of Joy is coming here. Her human prototype Rose Stahl, will present tier it the Gennett on Thursday in "The Chorus Lady" the successful comedy by James Forbes, author of "The Commuters" and "The Traveling Salesman" which will make its farewell visit ot his city. Miss Stahl's engagement takes on new interest from the fact that "The Chorus Lady" may now be termed an International success. The piece was sent, to London by Henry B. Harris, scoring by far the greatest, hit ever made by an American play in the British metropolis. Miss Stahl brings with her practically the entire original company, including Isabel Goodwin, Alice Leigh, Winona Willett, Lotta Brunelle, Anne Ives, Helen Dahl, Florence Grant, Lois Arnold. Claire Lane, Wilfred Lucas, Giles Shine, Robert Stowe Gill. Thomas Magulre, Sid Fortis, Francis Check, Edgar Birch and C. C. Weaver.
Is the one play of the season that nobody will overlook, for it has made its reputation as the best comedy in many years, a rapid-fire and never miss laugh producer, a three hours bombardment or irresistible fun. That much is known to every man, woman and juvenile who keeps track of things theatrical. Also it Is known that this play made such a hit in New York that it has been running there for more than a year, that it Is the
only comedy that has ever stuck out a summer on Broadway, and that for six months it kept Chicago in happier humor than that city had been since the world's fair. Knowing this much, would anybody wish to know more about "Seven Days" before seeing it? It spoils half the fun to know '.be story of the play in advance and snyway It would be nest to impossiole to describe " Seven Days " It's too
I funny to be told Enough that it is up
to the minute comedy of smart New Yorkers who meet for dinner and are quarantined for a week. As for the quality of the fun. take the word of the New York Tribune for It. "Seven Days" said the Tribune, "is screamingly funny The audience laughed and laughed until they wished the actors would 6top for awhile po the
house might catch Its breath. The world loves laughter. At Seven
Days' it can laugh tilt it is weary."
EQUALITY. Whether I be the grandest genrjs on earth m a single thing, and that single thing earthy, or the poor peasant who, behind his plow, whide for want of thought. I strongly suspect it will be aD one when I pass to the competitive examination yonder I On the other side of the grave a Raphael's occupation may be gone as well as a plowman's. Bulwer-Lytton.

"The Qirl in the Taxi." r Interest runs high in the appear ance of "The Girl In the Taxi" at the Gennett theater tonight. This play has been a long time reaching this city owtng to the great success which attended Its production In Chicago and Boston, In which two cities It remained the reigning triumph as a laugh producing entertainment for thirty solid weeks. But we are to catch a glimpse of It at last and If reports from other cities where "The

"St. Elmo." Local devotees of the drama have a treat in store for them. Next week the stage version of Mrs. Augusta J. Evan's famous novel "St. Elmo" will be produced at the Gennett theater on December 6. Probably no book play offered to the public In years has been provided with such a cast, scenic Investiture or effects as this latest of all popular plays. Each character has been carefully drawn while the pretty passages contained in the book,
along with the beautiful story, replete
with real tears and heart throbs, comedy and human have been retained. It Is a production that should raise the fin de siecle productions a notch or two higher In the estimation of an exacting theater going clientele and besides, furnish capital amusement and entertainment.- There are four acts of gripping interest, besides thrills and other surprises.
"The Easiest Way." An event of unusual Interest to local theater goers will be the appearance of Frances Starr in the David Bclasco production "The Easiest Way." Eugene Walter's masterpiece, at the Gennett on Monday, December 5. For over a year this play was the talk of New York and It will be given here with the same cast and scenic equipment that was Identified with its metropolitan presentations. In "The Easiest Way" Frances Starr is revealed In a role widely different from that In which she first won fame under the direction of David Belasco. The Laura Murdock of Eugene Walter's play Is essentially weak, an unusual creature and so wedded to luxury and the pleasant way of life that she is willing to make any sacrifice to gratify her wishes. The play is chiefly concerned with the woman's struggle to live In harmony with promptings of her better nature. The company surrounding Miss Starr is exceptionally capable.
