VOTERS ASK FOR fl OYSTER FEAST easBBMsBSBsssas A Henry County Republican Mads Such Promise in Democratic Township. - ' GIVEN ELEVEN MAJORITY
IN SULPHUR tPRINQt COMMUNITY WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN MFFIRSONIAN STRONGHOLD, Y HUNGRY VOTERS.
(Palladium Special) New Castle, Ind., Nor. 11. If he carries , put a promise be made before the election, George W. Williams, of Knights town, will be compelled to fire aa oyster lupper to an entire township In Henry county, and those who know Mr. Williams best say be will do aa be promised, now that the election la over and be Is elected to the office of representative from Henry county In the state legislature. Prior , to the election Mr. Williams, la the Interest of .bis candidacy, went to Sulphur 8 prints to make a political speech In the town ball. After his address be appealed to the voters of the audience for support at the then coming election. Jefferson township. In which Sulphur Springs Is located, has always been a- rock-ribbed Democratic stronghold, and while Republicans went there and delivered addresses and solicited votes, it was considered merely a matter of courtesy and form, as none of them expected to get any votes, at least no majority. In the township. And such was undoubtedly tbe belief of Mr. Williams. Premised an Oyster Supper. After Williams bad appealed to the voters for their support, one voter In the audience yelled: "We're going to elect you, Williams," to which Williams replied: "If Jefferson township goes for me at the coming election I'll give all of you an oyster supper, and the promise was remembered. In Tuesday's election Williams got a majority In Jefferson township over his Democratic opponent. Harry Burrls, who formerly lived in tbe township and served as trustee, of 11 votes. Burrls received 111 votes while Williams received 122. The residents of the town are now clamoring for Williams to keep bis promise and the man who will represent Henry county In tbe next legislature Is trying to fix upon a date when be can have the supper and serve oysters to the populace of Jefferson township. it is estimated, that close to a hundred gallons of oysters will be required as both Democrats and Republicans of the township of Jefferson art good feeders particularly when oysters are on the bill of fare. K. K. Kirk. Republican candidate for sheriff, got a majority ol four votes over
James Bousiog. Democratic opponent. In the same township and may combine with Williams in giving the supper.

" And decide for yourself. Here Is one case of it: John Morris, 433 Main ' street.
Richmond, Ind.. says: "For, several years I suffered from backache, the attacks often being so severe that I could hardly straighten. The kidney secretions were at times profuse while again scanty, plainly showing that my kidneys were disordered. I finally decided to try a kidney remedy and began using Doan's Kidney Pills, procured at A. G. Luken and Company's
Drug Store. They helped me after
other preparations had failed. At that time I told of my experience in a
public statement and now I gladly con
firm all I then said. I have had only one occasion to use Doan's Kidney
Pills since my firse trial of them and
I am glad to say that the results were aa satisfactory as before."

"The Climax." "There are the giggle, the grunt, the
gasp, the roar," says Joseph Weber, the great comedian,; in speaking of laughter, "but for me the soft, mellow release of pent up feeling which is truly a laugh, and which signifies that the soul and the stomach are on the
best of terms."
And yet Joseph Weber has t imed
producer of a serious dramatic effort, called "The Climax." which he will
bring to the Gennett on Monday evening.
"But." continued Mr. Weber, "there
Is nothing inconsistent in this; be who
laughs with the people knows the people, and he who knows the people
know what they want"
There Is a good deal of truth in what
Mr. Weber says, and one may, rest assured that "The Climax" will be wholesome and pleasant
The author is Edward Locke, . and
the composer of the music, strongly Incidental, Is Josepb Carl BrelL
. "The Traveling Salesman." James ' Forbes's popular comedy. The Traveling Salesman," Is under
lined for early production at the Gennett where it scored a marked success last season.
As with all the Henry B. Harris pro
ductions, this play, will be mounted
and cast in first class manner.
Among the players announced for
the principal roles are .Mark' Smith
Dallas Tyler, Mark Price, George De
Vree, Dean Borup and Emmett Shakle-
ford.
"The House Next Door." An opportunity to witness some act
ing of the old school, will be presented by J. E. Dodson, the famous character actor, in the comedy, "The . House Next Door," at the Gennett tonight It
Is acting that differs from the modern
style In that the latter system tends to develop the actor Into an automatic figure, because he is physically and
temperamentally suited to -bis role, where aa In the old school of acting, an actor was taught to adjust his
talents to the character under Inter
pretation and sink his individuality in it The work of Mr. Dodson is described aa a living protest against the present system of acting. So methodically do fashions reappear in the cicle of events, that In exemplifying the better qualities of the old school, Mr. Dodson may be hopefully regarded as
the herald of what will be called the new school of acting. The public has ever a warm place in Its admiration for the technician and the student and It haa this veneration for Mr. Dodson. In "The House Next Door." his comedy, it Is said, is often brought to the surface by broad strokes when the scene suggests them, yet the dignity of bis pathos is never submerged by the ludicrous. From all accounts this play and especially the performance of Mr. Dodson as Sir John Cotswold. Is well worth seeing.
Lanham Stock Company. I Commencing with a matinee on Tuesday the Lanham Stock company will play a five days' engagement at the Gennett theater. This company haa never been seen In Richmond before and as It has been highly spoken of In other cities It should prove of double Interest to all those who are Interested In the popular form of entertainment which a traveling stock company offers. For the matinee on Tuesday, "The Vampire" has been chosen as the bill while at night with the ladlea admitted free under the usual opening night conditions, "Paid a Debt" will be presented. Arcade. The hobble skirt has had an unusual amount of publicity this season and many a humorous Incident haa been recorded. The moving picture man haa constructed a marvelous bob ble skirt of unheard of design and the pretty girl that wears it on the street haa a faat and furious time. For lively comedies this is tbe best since the "Directoire gown" by the same company. Tbe Arcade will ahow "Woman's Vanity," the "hobble" picture on Friday and Saturday.
Mrs. Flake auch aplendid opportuni-
ties la fa itself a worthy representative of the best that the modern stage affords in that while primarily it Is a drama of great strength, it is also a literary effort that reflects great credit alike upon the ability of Mr. Mitchell and the ' discriminating taste of the public. Mrs. Flske's own performance In "Becky Sharp" ' scintillates with keen comedy appreciation, and she renews her right to the title of the foremost of American comediennes. . Tbe Manhattan company appears to its usual advantage, particularly good performances being contributed by Leonard Shepherd as the Marquis of Steyne, and Henry Stephenson as Rawdon Crawley.
At the Murray. The pleasing - feature, "Childhood Days," which delighted so many at a former appearance at the Murray, has won the patrons of this beautiful play house from its first appearance this week. In addition' to the songs of school days and some not heard there there are several escapades causing some laughter, and other actions that make this an act of comedy with an underlying vein of pathos. The Wheeler Sisters sing and dance, Arthur Searla is here again with that whistling that is certainly surprising and enjoyable, as well aa some Jokes. Tbe hand to band balancers may rightly be called "Modern Sampsons" as they are muscular fellows and they know how to use their muscles in some extra good acrobatic feats. It will be worth your while to see Dixon and Nelson. The motion pictures tell a story with some comedy.
Mrs. Flake. Mrs. Flske's artistry, as displayed in "Becky Sharp." seems to possess a greater fascination than ever, and It Is just cause for congratulation that Langdon Mitchell's classic adaptation of Thackeray's Immortal story is to be presented during her engagement at the Gennett tomorrow evening. - 4 The play In addition to affording
