' Interest In the union evangelistic meetings at the East Main Street Friends' church Is becoming general and by the end of the first week there promises to be a widespread concern among the people of the city In regard to them. Many evidences, most of them not evident to the general pub lie, are being found by the workers la this meeting that a genuine revival Is coming on. There are many inquiries after Information, many requests for prayers and many expres alons of a desire to live better lives. There Is also a general feeling that

At the first week of the meetlng3 4 near a close the evangelist. Rev. GeoH. Mahy, now has his plans well laid and he has filled his helpers and his audiences with the same spirit that infuses him a spirit of hopefulness and confidence. Services Last Night. The services of Wednesday evening

mind or the evangelist Jesus is not some obscure something about, which there can be endless .argument, with arrival at nothing, but be Is a definite character and a character who was very definite as to his own relation to Ood and to the world. As beating on this subject, he cited many quotations from the old testament, making . predictions regarding Christ and then he gave quotations from Christ himself to show bow definite he was regarding himself. There were, several things about which Christ was very definite and these Included his own nature . . . W I 1 Ak.

Today Is the greatest day of the year for the owner of gun and dog, as it marks the opening of the hunting season, when certain kinds of game may be killed. In preparing for the great sport nlmrods everywhere have oiled and polished up their guns, overhauled their outing clothes, . and "brushed up" their dogs with what Utile training could be administered at home. Many left yesterday on the trains and Interurban cars for the happy bunting grounds about the state, while others will get oat early tomorrow morning. The season opens for quails and rabbits, and the pop of the gun in the chase after this game will be beard in every section of the state. The open season on quails runs from Nov. 10 until Jan. 1. The open season on rabbits is from November 10, 1910 "to October 1st, 1911. Reports from different points in are as plentiful as Democrats, as the weather has been conductive to their growth. The hunting season on wild geese, ducks and other wild fowl is from Sept. 1 until April 1. As these are to be found principally In the marsh and lake regions of northern In
diana comparatively few people have oportunity to hunt them. Squirrels may be shot from July 1 to Oct. 1. ' Limit on Quails. ' No man In Indiana Is permitted to snare or otherwise trap" quails. They may be killed only with a gun. In order to prevent extermination, only li quails may lawfully be killed by one hunter in a day. Any person having hunted three days or more In succession may hare a total not to exceed 45 quails killed by himself. However, many people pay no attention to this clause., V -'-? V ' The law relating to wild ducks, geese, branb and other waterfowl is the same as the quail law In regard to. the number, permitted to be killed. The penalty In eah case for killing or having In possession birds in excess of the number permitted Is $10 for each bird- " " ' ' .'The hunting fee for a resident of Indiana to hunt in this state is $1. The
license 'may be procured In counties having less than 150.000 population of the clerk of the circuit court. In all counties of over 150,000 the licenses may be procured tlirect from the state fish and game commissioner, or from some person in the county appointed by him. The license la good for one year from the date. For persons outside the state the Indiana fee is $15.50. ' Severs Penalty for Peaching. Even though armed with a license there Is a severe penalty for any one bunting On land without permission from the owner. No hunting is permitted on . Sunday. A fact not generally known is that under the law the fish and game commissioner' shall use not less than one-third of the money received from the sale of licenses -in the purchase and distribution of quails and other wild game for the purpose, of stocking the state. When land owners agree to maintain a closed season on their land for a prescribed number of years, they are furnished birds for such preserves. Hundreds Of farmers have taken advantage of this feature of the law to
rpropagate quails and pheasants. - :
- Briefly summed up It Is unlawful to kill,' trap, possess, sell or offer to sell any wild .bird; to destroy the nests or eggs; to shoot wild deer, buck, doe or fawn, wild turkey or any pheasant of any kind, bred in this state, except that owners of private parks may shoot deer raised therein; to shoot any species of game with any kind of firearm on Sunday; to hunt with dog or
