Mr. Lebo it is reported is down on the program to respond to a toast and haa prepared an address that will be of great Interest to every T. P. A. The state board will hold its meeting at that time and in all probability will settle the question of next year's T. P. A. state - convention. Mr. Crawford is by far the most able and aggressive railroad chairman of any state in the national organization. ' He has accomplished great good for the traveling public by his perseverence and has caused to be remedied many defects In train service throughout the state. As evidenced by the great number of traction accidents of late he finds that some necessary action by the state authorities is absolutely necessary. Mr. Crawford is in a position to give some valuable information to legisla tors along the line of railroad law making. Charles Morgan . has severed his connection with the Indianapolis Sun as agent in this city. He has formulated no plans for the future. The watch given by the post last week went to Mr. George Stimson of New Castle who is a mail clerk on the . Pennsylvania railroad running between Cincinnati and Chicago. At the end of October, the T. P. A.'s numbered 40,257. The national . organisation during the last month paid three death claims, a total of $15,000.00. Indiana received two of these. In Mississippi all the state prisoners are employed on four farms owned by . the state. One contains thirteen thousand acres. The prisoners clear and improve the land and grow crops. Cotton is the chief product. All the white 'prisoners are on one farm of 2,200 acres. In Germany bicycles are now used almost exclusively by the working classes.

Since 1871 he has been in the regular army and has steadily risen. For several years he has been the chief quartermaster of the department of Texas with headquarters at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio. In 1890 he was chief quartermaster of the department of Porto Rico and during his service the terrific tornado took place. He distributed over thirty million pounds of food to the starring natives. He was chief quartermaster of the Philippines from 1903 to 1906 and saved the government two million five hundred thousand dollars without crippling his department In the least. Eight or nine hundred .yenrs ago a band of adrenturouM Welshmen landed on the American coast and planted a colony. They never went back, but according to Mr. James McLaughlin In "My Friend the Indian" "became in some sort the ancestor of a tribe of Indians, for the Mandana are thought by some writers to be the descendants of the lost Welshmen. Some philolo gists bare endeavored to prove this to their own satisfaction, and It Is said that the Mandans to this day retain in their vocabulary a great many dis tinctly Welsh words. Cummings, of Salt Lake City, is now inspecting the Mormon colo nies of Dublan, Diaz, Pacheco and Jaurez, northwest of Chihuahua. He reports both colonies and schools in excellent condition with a population of about four thousand persons. Fifty thousand acres are now under cultiva tion in tills colony, and tbe members are planning, with the aid of the new water supply to bring fifty thousand acres more into bearing. ' One of the unique features mentioned by "Mr. Cummings in a recent interview is that there are no police in any of the colonies. There ore nine schools in the colonies, open to Mexican children.
