Cummin began a (our daya' tour of Indiana yesterday afternoon at Plymouth, where he apoke to a fair-sized
audience.' He addressed an audience of more than 1,000 here last night.
la both speeches he made a powerful
appeal for the re-election of Senator
BeTerlda-e. With reference to his re

there last week, that the worst Republican Is better than the best Democrat. I brand that story as being absolutely without foundation. It would
hare been impossible for me to hare uttered a sentiment of that charac

"What I did say was that there are certain great and vital things which
this country must do in the very near future which the Democratic party, with Ha history. Us, party record. Its
creeds and platforms, is utterly incapable of doing. . t Praise for the G. O. P.

He was Tom Ford, an alleged son of the then ex-governor of Illinois. He was positively identified. . ' In the case of the other Ford, who was christened SewalL and who was Charley Smith among his acquaintances, there was-" triple lynching at
the south limit , of Wellington. . Bill Brooks, an outlaw, and Charles Hasbrook, a young attorney, being hanged
with him. This lynching was done by men from Wellington, and at least one of them is alive and lived - here, a wealthy man. Another died in the soldiers' home at Leavenworth a short timeago. The trio was hanged for stealing horses and Smith was ' posi

The letters have found their way into
the papers and have been given wide circulation, reviving the tales of the border days when Wellington was a
stage headquarters and Caldwell was
filled with a dangerous and reckless bunch of men. The Fords found their way into Wichita and joined the "Prairie Riders." They rode wild over the country steal
ing cattle and horses ' and driving them to the railroads where , they sold them. : The elder Ford strayed as far as Caldwell in 1S71 and stole a horse. He was caught and was given into the hands of George ? Freeman who started for Wellington with him.
As they passed Curley " Marshall's saloon Ford, who had a few dollars, said: y . "Let's go in and spend this for drinks. I won't live to spend it for anything else." He knew that , no trial was necessary to convict him. He had been an old offender and he realized that his time bad come. , Freeman accommodated his prisoner, who was in irons,
and l ora witn tne nonchalance or a wine agent, waved everybody to the bar. He had no trouble spending his
few dollars.
. DONT BE OBSTINATE. , To contend for the right is one thing: to contend for one's own way in getting thff right done is quite another. The man who sees the right end to be gtined and hirsts that none but right means shall be used can still yield g-acefuHy in all sorts of minor matters and welcome every suggestion from oihers instead of antagonizing them. -

50,000 tons were shipped from the forests In the Philippine Islands to China to be used in building the emneror's tomb. The trees for the Man
soleum pillars are 45 inches In diameter and 60 feet high. The pillars weigh 7 tons. The structure, completed, will cost about $2,000,000. The wood Is nearly as heavy as Iron and will sustain a fine polish. The
fact that it will be used almost entirely In the construction of Jwang Su's Mansolenm and the cost of the tomb indicates the precious quality of the wood. The Dowareg empress ts to interested in the discovery that she has made known her desire that her own
Mansoleum be constructed of the same

Then we are shown with what
speed the machine can be dismounted and packed in four trunks ' for ship
ment. While thousands have seen aeroplanes in night probably only a
few are familiar with the seeming frail construction of these wonderful
flying machines. In spite of their light construction however, they are carefully made as will be seen In this
picture and the proof of it lies in the fact that a man can project himself into space by means of a few yards of canvas and a wooden fan.
The picture ends with some marvel
ous stunts in flying by Mr. Ely and
"Bud" Mars, the latter performing his hurdle jumping trick and taking several hair- raising dips which Hamilton made famous at the aviation grounds at Mineola.
In view of the widespread interest in aviation this tlm should be particularly timely and interesting In all parts of the country- Another picture will show a comic aeroplane in action. It's a scream.
