1 PallaJlum Special) Eaton, O., Oct. 25. Election predictions indicate that the Republicans will be generally successful in Preble county this fall although some erratic enthuslazts of the oposlte party claim the slate will be thoroughly cleaned by their candidates. However, a concensus of safe opinion indicates a possibility of one or two democrats on the county ticket slipping into office, but not more. Conservative estimates indicate that Warren G. Harding will carry the county by a majority not less than 250, with Geo. R. Young, Congressional candidate.
Old Home in Cleveland Has Deen Converted Into a Drink Cure Hospital. HIS SON GAVE THE LEASE HAD HEN CLOSED FOR YEARS AND MILLIONAIRE RESIDENTS HAD THOUGHT IT WOULD BE LEFT AS IT WAS.
Cleveland, Oct 25. -Indignation has arisen following the announcement that the old John D. Rockefeller homestead at East Fourth street and Eudid avenue, the center of one of Cleveland's exclusive neighborhoods, baa been leased as an Institute for the cure of alcoholism. Millionaires who 'have their homes
Jn Euclid avenue, adjoining or near the Rockefeller home, express themselves aa greatly surprised at the action of Mr. Rockefeller in leasing the old place. It waa generally believed in Cleveland that the old home would never be leased or sold, owing to its value In the eyoa of Mrs. Rockefeller, who has always manifested the deepest Interest la the old green house where her children were born and where her husband began his climb to fame by the Standard Oil route. Kept Closed For Years. For years It has been closed, al
though the grounds have been kept up la accordance with the surrounding property. People living near the old place had begun to think that the home would always be kept with furnishings Intact, to be known as the old Rockefeller lease. The furniture has been stored In the attlo and the entire building and the grounds will be used for the treatment of chronic drinkers. Dr. McNamara, who will be in charge, says that there will be a large number of attendants about the place aU the time. The closing of the lease with the medical company recalls the fact that when Mr. Rockefeller bought his present home on Forest Hill It was a sanatorium. He remodeled It extensively before taking possession.
