Edna Wallace, the Milton girl who attempted suicide at De Pauw university on Monday because she could not make a sorority, probably will pay a severe penalty for her belief that the other girls of her class had been unjust to her. The attending physician has announced that the' optic nerves were affected by the alcohol and it is doubtful if she will regain her eyesight. She la out of danger otherwise, it is thought. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Wallace living south of Milton, are at her bedside and probably will return her to their home as soon as possible. The effect which Miss Wallace's act' has had on sorority and fraternity spirit In the different institutions where they are permitted to exist is most depressing. It is thought that the affair may cause the different college presidents to take some action. Sororities and fraternities have not been most popular with school officials.
