Accepting the proposition of the Ohio ' State Highway Commission, Washington township Is soon to have one mile of model highway, the county commissioners at a recent meeting deciding to Improve the. Eaton and Sugar Valley turnpike after the plans laid down by the commission. The Improvement, which will cost In the neighborhood of $12,000. will be paid for one-half by the state, onefourth by the township and one-fourth by the owners of the abutting property. This Is the first real activity that has been taken by Preble countlaui toward the complete rejuvenation of her highways. J. Martin Yost principal of the Eaton schools st the south building, has been arrested on a charge of assanlt and battery preferred by Sheriff William 8. Boner, who claims the pedagogue unmercifully and without cause chastised his 13 year old son. Hobart a few, days since. Yost has been admitted to ball and the .case will be tried next Thursday afternoon in Mayor Miller's court. Mr. Yost has been a teacher la the Eaton schools for a number of years. ; Many of Preble county's pedagogues will go to Hamilton next Saturday to attend the annual session of the Southwestern Ohio Teachers' association.

MEETING AT COURT HOUSE The annuel reunion of the eighth and eighteenth Indiana Infantry regiments will be held at the court house on Wednesday. The meeting will he attended by a hundred or more veterans of the Civil war and the program which has been prepared for the occasion includes a reciting of the stories of the Civil wsr. Citizens and business bouses have been requested by the local members of these two - regiments to - decorate) their places with flags or other appro priate decorating material.
