Members Showed They, Wilf Make Excellent Farmers. -COMMITTEE REPORTS SOON Application of Intensive system' of farming Is held responsible by the executive committee of the Wayne County Boys' Corn club for the better conditions found In the corn being raised by the membership than In the other fields in the county. The com mittee has inspected all but six of the quarter acre plots and these will be visited within a few dayB. - There are a hundred and one members in the club who are competing for the honor of attending the corn short course at Purdue university next winter, free of charge.. Those having the best records on the season's work will be sent to the university. Up to date about twenty boys are ahead but the result may change after the yields from the different fields have been computed and added to the average so far determined upon by the committee. The yield counts halt - ASK ALLEY CLEANED An attempt to make property owners clean up the first alley north ofMain street running east from Fort Wayne avenue is being made by the city attorney and health department This alley is a blind one and one ot the worst in the city. ' Several vaults hava caved Into the sewer, trash and garbage and all aorta of filth are In the alley and odors arising are a disgrace to the neighborhood according to Mr. Gardner. The property owners have been Instructed to clean up and If they do not comply will probably be prosecuted on the charge of maintaining a public nuisance Another bad alley is the first south of Main, running from Fourth to Fifth street There Is said to be excuse for the condition In which it Is kept as there Is no sewer built In the alley. The line was put In bn the basis of a consumer to each 500 feet and the company says there Is not the required consumption.
