' " GOOD WHEAT CROP An average of tweflty-one and a third bushels of No. 1 wheat to the acre is the best yield which has bee a reported this year. Levin Swallow, a farmer living -eleven miles west of the city, near Harvey's crossing, harvested 783 bushels from a field of this size. He declares that the crop Is the best he ever raised and one of the best ever produced in the county. He 6a y s that his success was due to the use of bone fertiliser and he does not place so much Importance on the rotation of crops as the judicious use of fertilizer.

It was decided to attempt to raise money to buy tbe land by subscriptions from citizens and if money enough is secured to form a stock company and purchase the land. The purpose of purchasing the land is to establish a park for all kinds of 6pen air public meetings, conventions and Chautaqua. A dam would be built making a lake, and creating a beautiful summer resort, which it is believed would prove popular with people in this part of the country. Practically all the land is in the Hawkins estate. There is 23 acres in tbe Marmon estate, and a few acres belonging to other property holders. A public sale of the, Hawkins holdings Is about to be held. The Commercial club believes that if the land were divided up, the purchase of it for a park would be financially out of the question. It would cost at. the lowest possible price, from $20,000 to $25,- (. City Statistics Marriage License. Alvin McLear, Richmond. 27. switchman, and Ruth Imbowden, Richmond, 19. Deaths and Funerals. EXTREMELY RARE RECORD
WHILE BINGHAM HAS BEEN IN CITY NOT AN ARREST HAS BEEN MADE AND HE PAYS COMPLIMENT TO SALOONS. Examination of the docket and cash books of police court has just been completed by George Bingham, traveling deputy of the attorney general. Everything in the books was found iu first class condition and no irregularities of any kind were found. Not a single "stay' now due, which has not been paid, was found on the books. This is an .extremely rare record according to Mr. Bingham. In making his report, the auditor of the books placed hls."0. K." on each" docket. Docket No. 1, during the administration of Perry J. Converse also, was city Judge on the first docket and hia record on this book showed 411 collected and 411 paid in. Docket No. 2, during the judgshlp of Mr. Con-, verse, showed $1,500 to have been collected and paid in; Docket No. 3 showed $1,211 collected and paid in. Also on No. 3. $212 collected and paid in. On Docket No. 4. present mayor W. W. Zimmerman paid in ' $1) and has a balance of $35 due before tbe . first Monday in January. During Mr. Bingham's stay in Rich-' mond there have been no arrests and he says this is exceptional in" a "wet" town. "Either the saloons are well conducted or the officers go on the streets without their glasses," said Mr. Bingham. ..
