Anderson Bulletin. jl jt .jf ALL NEED REST. It is quite necessary that every woman should have mental refresh ment. The only way to get it is to completely drop all thoughts that tira one. A most sensible woman writer one time was heard to remark that she sat at her desk and worked hard while she worked. Now the thing for her to do is to forget the things that absorbed her, when she finishes her work for the day. It misht also be a good thing for her to seek her pleasure after office hours among friends who have nothing in common with her occupation. Often times one may like frivolous company but then: editors' work is. so, serious that they .need absolute relaxation. Someone' in writing along this same line of thought says; "Work while you work, and play while you play," is a good motto. We have too little of the play-loving spirit. Women, especially seem to leave behind them all of childhood's gayety of spirit when they enter the world of toil. They seem to feel that it is not their natural sphere, and. in some ways saddens them. Modern education is making much of the play Idea. The girl is wise who gets in line with this advanced . thought, which, after all, is a thought as old an the ages. It is not frivolity to like the bright things of life. It is simply self-preservation. ' Jt ' Jt ' jt ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual picnic of the Spring Grove Sewing circle will be held Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Dougan. Not Even Cobblestone, to His Memory Would Widow Erect
. BY FRANCIS PHILLIPS. New York, Aug. 3.Not long ago a well known millionaire, whose name frequently figured in the financial pa pers, died at his handsome mansion in , one ot the fashionable side streets off Fifth avenue, not far from the home of Ogden Goelet. In addition to a fortune of $7.000,x:o he left a beautiful widow some twenty years his Junior. By all their friends the couple were supposed to be unusually happy despite the disparity in their ages. Upon all public occasions when they were seen together they contrived to appear devoted to each other. How much an effort it must have been for them to keep up the deceit was never known until after the death of her husband, when the widow unable to conceal her secret longer, confided to a jfriend that for approximately all their married life they seldom spoke to one another except In company. The other day the agent of one of the largest firms in the city engaged In making mausoleums called on the widow in her palatial home to solicit an order for a tomb for the deceased, commensurate with his wealth. The widow is des cribed as being unusually gracious and charming to the agent until he made known his errand, "Mausoleum to that man?" she shrieked. "I wouldn't erect a cobble stone to his memory If they cost one cent each. The scoring that hubby received for the next few minutes must have made him turn somersaults in his grave. Confused and embarrassed the agent withdrew with an apology for his intrusion. Did you ever see Mansfield play Jekyll and Hyder asked the agent af a sr terwards in describing the visit. "If you did you can appreciate the change that took place when I mentioned a monument to the dead man. The sort gentle face flashed with fire in an instant and became hard and vicious as that pt a courtesan of the street. "If that woman would turn her tal7lO ala 8S ICUMOiiI i Why Pay More?
