So Far the Democrats Have Been Unable to Point Out Anything that Indicates Rivals' Failure. OEVERIDGE SUPPORT REMAINS SOLID ONE Republicans Not Fully Agreed on the Issues, But Differ- . ences Not Such as to Create 4 Party War.
(Palladium Special) Indianapolis, Jul? 27.-WWle the democrat of tho state are making lot of nolee about what they declare to be eerloui differences among the re publicans of Indiana, the fact remains that they are not able to point out anything in this line that appears to Indicate failure for the republican ticket When you ask them to name a single republican In the state who Is going to vote against the republican ticket this fall they are not able to do ao. They carry their prediction this far and there they stop. The democrats are doing erery thing In their power to create and spread the Impression that Watson,
Kemenway. Durbln and numerous
other good republicans are fighting the
republican ticket this year, or that they are doing ererythlng In their
power to bring about the defeat of Senator Beveridge, . who is the only candidate for United States senator. They say that these men will exert their Influence to defeat Bererldge,
eren If they are obliged to go to the
length of electing a democratic legislature to carry their point But when you ask them to tell when and where
any of these men made such a state
ment of their purpose they are not able to do so. It Would Cauee Scrap. The fact Is that these men hare never made any such statement It Is
quite likely that If any person were to
charge directly any one of them with such purpose he would hare a scrap on his hands In a minute. While It Is
admitted and well known, that all re
publicans are not agreed on some of the Issues, but their differences are
not sufflclently great to cause any of them to help elect a democratic legls lature or set of democratic state offi
cers. The democrats are taking the posi
tion that the Toters of the state are dissatisfied with the republican part In
Its present condition and that there Is
going to be a widespread sweep of
bolting among them this year. They
say the republican Toters are going to flock to the democratic standard this
year and vote the democ ratio ticket
Just what they find on which to base such a prediction no one knows. They
do not even know themselves.
Republicans who have been out In
the state and who have mingled with
the voters report that they have fall
ed to find any such condition. They
declare that the farmers are very well
satisflea witn present conditions ana
that they are not talking of voting against the republican ticket ' They know that the defeat of the republican ticket this year would mean that the tariff would be taken off farm products and the farmers are not In favor of that movei The farmers are prosperous so these men say, and they are not going to throw away their prosper
ity. Asks Them to Think.
"If these democrats would Just stop and think a moment, said one of
the men after he had made a trip through several counties, looking Into conditions, they would see the fallacy of their claim. They must remember that if the republicans help to elect a democratic legislature In order to defeat Senator Beveridge they will at the same time elect a democrat as United States senator. The republican vote is not built that way. Of course, the democrats in urging this argument and making these statements, are speaking one word for the republicans and a dozen words for themselves. I have found that the republicans are Just as well lined up
now as they have ever been, and that they are Just as firm In their determination to elect their ticket this year. I have heard democrats make the statement that thousands of republicans were going to vote against their ticket this year and I have asked several of them to name a single man who would do this. In every Instance they have been unable to point out one republican who is going to vote the democratic ticket.
James E. Watson has already made
a public statement that he Is eager for the success of the entire republican ticket in this state this year, and that be is ready to do bis share of the work
to elect it In spite of the wild stor
ies that have been circulated to the
contrary, Watson will not oppose any
body on the ticket And if Watson re
mains in line there Is no reason to believe that any of the other party lead
ers will do differently.
Still Spreading Story. The democrats also are hard at work spreading the story that even in case
the republicans carry the legislature
this vear Senator Beveridge will not
be re-elected. They declare with greai
emphasis that this is the plan of those who are opposed to Beveridge. This, of course Is another story- out of
which the democrats hope to make
capital In the campaign. The fact Is that the democrats have Instructed
their speakers this year to make this point and hammer on It good and
hard. In the hope that It will stir up disaffection among the republicans.
But there is nothing in the situation at
this time that indicates that there will
be any candidate among the republi
cans for United States senator besides
Beveridge. The republicans all un
derstand that If the republicans win Beveridee will be re-elected. If the
democrats win he will not be re
elected.
The democratic state committee will meet In this city tomorrow to discuss
campaign plans. It was expected that
Senator Shlvely would attend the meeting but a telegram was received by Stokes Jackson, democratic state chairman, from Shlvely yesterday afternoon saying he would be here on Friday morning. The democrats are planning-a much closer and stronger
organisation this year than they had
two years ago. It is well known that two years ago they were In a bad way in many parts of the state for an organisation of any kind. This year, however, they are already at work shaping up their lines. Workers Very Active. The same is true of the republicans. They are doing organization work all over the state, and at headquarters reports pre coming In that the workers are busy. It is pointed out that while the republican farmers are well satisfled with present prosperous conditions and will stand by their ticket the tame as usual, the republicans are sure to benefit in the cities and towns from organized labor. Union labor has not forgotten the double cross which the democrats gave them In the legislature two years ago, and the leaders of labor throughout the state ar offering their services to the republican organization this year. The Union, the official paper of the State Federation of Labor, published In this city, has given the democratic party to understand editorially that there are other Issues In Indiana more Important than the brand of beer that is sold In the state, or whether liquor may be sold at all In the state. It de
clares that the Interests of the laborer demand better attention than was given It by the last democratic legislature, and all signs indicate that organized labor will vote the republican ticket this year.

Union Farmers Incorporate.
In line with the declaration adopted at the recent conference of the organized farmers In St. Louis, the American Co-operative onion has been incorporated with - a capitalization of $1,000,000. The society will begin n crusade against high prices und to eliminate middlemen in the sale of products raii-d tr used on the farm.
