Gotham Man In Evening Dress Takes His Life In a Theater
New York, June !WIn full sight of nearly 1,000 men and women a man in evening dress killed himself just before the curtain dropped at the end of the performance by the Jersey Lilies, a burlesque company at the Columbia theater, Broadway and Forty-seventh street. He had arisen from his seat in a box of the second tier, called out in a loud voice so that the attention of all was attracted to him, and the shot himself through the head. He died before the arrival of the ambulance. The man was identified from letters found in his pocket, and the police said his name was Charles Talbott, -42 years old of No. 5 IS Park avenue. Some of the letters the police declared showed that he had left his home with the intention of commiting suicide, although they refused to disclose the contents of the note. For five or six minutes after the shot rang out through the auditorium of the theater and brought every man and woman out of their seats there was a scene closely resembling a panic as persons sought to get to a safe place. William Henry Hickey. the leader of the orchestra, was among the first of the attaches of the theater to realize the situation, and with a loud voice

The music drown ed out the hysterical cries of startled women, in the audience. i In the box with the man said to be Talbott were two men and a woman, but the police declared that they did not know the dead man. The woman, whose name was not learned, fainted from the fright as the man fell almost at her feet, and she was escorted from the theater by her friends. Talbott entered the box during the first act of the burlesque, and attracted a little attention as he threw off a long opera cloak from his shoulders before sitting down. As Fanny Veddcr, the leading woman with the Jersy Lilies started to sing the final song in the burlesque Talbott rose in his seat and peered down over the orchestra. The attention of one or two men was drawn in his direction, but he suddenly said something in a loud voice, and then pressed against his head a revolver, which he fired. When the teeth of files have become worn and dulled by use they are re sharpened in a very easy manner with a '"sand blast." The file Is passed Into an Opening in a chamber, and a stream of fine sand and water is blown with terrific force by means of ' steam against the backs of the file teeth from a nozzle which directs the stream at a certain angle. Each of the count less millions of sand grains does its little share in grinding away the tooth surface, and so the result is a smoothing and sharpening up of the teeth. Files which are newly cut may also be brought to a greater degree of perfection and sharpness by means of the sand blast. Pearson's. IS BIGGEST DAMAGE SUIT FILED BY WAYNE COUNTY CITIZEN SINCE $50,000 SUIT OF GEORGE SCHEPMAN. The trial of the $20,000 damage suit for personal injuries sustained by Thomas Dasgrtt of East Germantown on September U, 1909, by being struck by T. II., I. & E. Daggett's injuries consisted of a broken leg; the muscles on the other leg torn; many sprains ad bruises, and other injuries about the body. For several days after the accident It was not thought iKisslble he could live. When he appeared in the courtroom today he walked with the aid of crutches. Mr. Schepman asked $30,000 and a Henry county jury awarded $12,500. The case was venued to Henry county from the Circuit Court.
