BY W. W. NAUGHTON. vSan Francisco, May 27. The sports of th city are all agog now over the coming to town of Jeffries. Jeff is to appear in Bparring bouts with Joe Choynskl and Bob Armstrong at Dreamland tonight, and apart from what Jeffries may show in the way of ring activity, the desire to see how

the hie fellow looks after his long

siege of training is general. .Jeffries'g appearance will speak for itself. The spectators will look upon a man who has stuck resolutely to the longest grind in training in the HU-

tory of fisticuffs. There will be no two opinions in regard to the results

achieved by the big fellow in the mat ter of weight reduction at least. It is reasonable to suppose that Jef

fries will infuse considerable ginger into his glove play so as to extract

favorable comment from the thousanda who have always upheld him as the greatest fighter of modern times. There is a suspicion that the bard and fast work Jeffries has compelled his sparring partners to go through within the past week, is a ample of what may be expected tomorrow night. There is a report that Jack Johnson Intends taking in the show. Johnson Is noncommittal on the subject. Ho ays he may go and then again he nay not. He argues that as he saw Jeff fully extended with Gus Ruhlin and Tom Sharkey, he does not have to post himself as to Jeffries ring methods. - .'. "If I do go, there will be no secret about it," said Johnson. "They told me over In London that Tommy Burns put on false whiskers and went to see Gunner Moir box a few days before the Moir-Burns fight; but I won't put on any disguise if I go to see Jeffries." Johnson's work today consisted of a 12 mile run on the road, under the supervision of Trainer Flanagan. - Local opinion as to the holding of prize fights exists in California, according to a letter from E. P. Mitchell, state executive secretary of the Y. M. C. A. to H. J. McCoy, general secretary for San Francisco. McCoy

has forwarded the letter to District HAYS WILL BE IN THE BOX

Attorney Fickert. With it the local

secretary sent a copy of resolutions passed at a joint meeting of the directors and trustees of the San Fran. Cisco Y. M. C. A- protesting against prize fighting in this city and particularly against the announced fight between Jeffries and Johnson for the heavyweight championship.

The differences between Frank Weaver, the contractor in charge of the brick construction work of St. Mary's church and rectory and Bishop Chatard of the Indianapolis diocese, have been satisfactorily adjusted. The contractor started to work this morning to complete the provisions of his contract. Earlier in the week, Bishop Chatard instituted injunction,- proceedings against Weaver, prohibiting him from

!. Because newspapers throughout the

country are publishing scores of testimonials from people whom Root Juice baa cured or greatly benefited, there can be but little doubt regarding the unusual curative merits of the remedy. Newspapers all over the country are publishing news of many of the re

markable cures the discovery is mak

ing and there are but few localities

that have, not reported some great!

good from the U9e of Root Juice.

, From Bedford down in the southern part of Indiana, the proprietor of the

people that Mrs. Sam White, of north

I street, said: "I had quit taking med

icine, dismissed my doctor and prepared to die, when I heard of the

great discovery called Root Juice. I

sent for some of it, and before I had finished taking the first bottle, I was

able to sit up in bed. The doctor said I had cancer of the stomach. I don't

know what is was, but Root Juice soon cured me. and I can't say enough in

favor of it."

Frank Brown of 012 East Fourteenth

street, Bedford. Indlna, said: "I had stomach -trouble for years, and tried many doctors and medicines without much benefit, but after taking Root Juice a short while, was free from pain and annoyance, and could eat and sleep. , I soon became strong and well

and wouldn't take any sum for what

- the great medicine did for me."

It seems that Root Juice benefits

every one who takes it a short while.

The tonic virtues of the medicine are amasing. It is also very soothing to

the stomach, bowels and kidneys.

I Interesting Side Trips in

I

The state convention of the American Order of Owls closed last even

ing with a banquet given in the lodge rooms, Luken's hall, by the local Nest in honor of the visiting delegations.

Other business included the selection

of Anderson as the meeting place for 1911, the election and installation of

officers and the change In the by-laws by which the order will be known hereafter as the Ancient Order of

Owls. The reason for the order changing the name was that an in4unction was secured in Illinois, where the order was organized, prohibiting the name of American being used in connection with the order, because it conflicted with another division of the same name. Although the Indiana delegations were unanimous for the change as indicated by the vote, yet the matter will not be positively settled until the national convention considers it at its meeting in Rochester. Buy a Hoover Sweeper and You'll Never Have To "Clean House" Again. A Hoover Electric Sweeper will do away with the semi-annual house cleaning time with its carpet beating, curtain washing, floor , scrubbing and the other things that break a woman's strength and a man's temper. The Hoover cleans house every time it is used; it beats the carpet, it sweeps the carpet and sucks all the dirt and dust, thus loosened up into its dust chamber. It cleans the curtains, the upholstered furniture and everything about the house. It never gets tired, never loses its temper, and is always ready for some new task. If you're contemplating the purchase of a vacuum cleaner, we'll be glad to let you take the Hoover home with you and clean a room. See how far ahead of any cleaner ever made; see how easily it works and how thoroughly it cleans; then you'll realize that the Hoover will pay for itself in a comparatively short time labor saved, in strength saved, in wear-and-tear on carpets, rugs, etc., saved. Tttac GycHonne Hapi Sweeper The Cyclone is about the only real hand cleaner ever offered for sale. Naturally it's not as desirable a machine as the Electric, but it's away ahead of the old-fashioned eweeper. Hit's (Good PoMs It's easier to operate the Cyclone; a child can work the pump that creates the vacuum; it has a larger and better dust chamber, and this can be cleaned without touching the dirf. It has a heavier nozzle and made longer, so there is no necessity for stooping or bearing weight on the handle. It is equipped with a blower and can be used to blow the dust away from all accessible places. '.. Lastly it costs only 025. We'll be glad to demonstrate it
