Post C. Our worthy national president, Mr. J. J. O'Meara, charges the various press chairmen with having not only assailed the official character of the national officers - but- their personal
character as well. We would Jike to
know of pne instance .where Mr. O'Mera's personal character has been assailed, It is not the purpose of any press chairman to attack or criticise
the personal character of any of the officers of the T. P. A. The official acts and the men as officials are what has been openly assailed. The T. P. A. pressmen everywhere are not inclined toward personalities. Because you have been caught with a bad crowd, Mr. President, you must take some of the results. We are sorry the shoes you are wearing do pinch a little. Personally you deserve better. It would have been better to have stayed with the good old boys of Indiana.

MAY FESTIVAL CHORUS. A rehearsal of the May Festival chorus will be held Tuesday evening. All member of the chorus are asked to be present. . VESPER SERVICE. A vesper service will be held this evening atthe First Presbyterian church. Mrs. Helen Johnson Bailey will sing "Fear Not," written by Mr. Edward Taylor of Indianapolis. The public is invited to attend. ' - ORATORIO CONCERTS. Richmond has not in some years had so brilliant a musical season as that of 1909-10. After such artists as Gadski and Bispham, the season is to close with the Messiah in April and the Elijah in May; each performance being one of a group of concerts. The concerts tinder the auspices of the Earlham Oratorio society at the Murray theater on Wednesday afternoon and evening of this week will bring to Richmond four vocal soloists of great ability and a brilliant pianist, Clarence Adler.
The Earlham Oratorio society was established in 1903 by its present director, C. K. Chase, professor of Latin at Earlham college. In that year , it brought out the "Creation" of Haydn, the first oratorio produced in Richmond for a number of years. The soloists for that performance were George Hamlin of Chicago, Arthur Beresford of Boston and Miss Elizabeth Blamere of Chicago, a truly notable trio of singers. The young choral society acquitted itself most creditably in tfiis its first year. The following year, the heavy Imperial Mass of Haydn ,was successfully performed with an excellent imported Quartet of singers, and the Persian Garden was given a notable rendering. During the next years, there were no further concerts by the society and it was hoped that college students musically inclined might be able to sing with the Richmond festival chprus, whenever that was in existence. But It proved to be impossible for college students to attend the long night rehearsals in the city, and so the demand for the emergence of the Oratorio society was so strong that at the urgent request of Miss Lucy Francisco, director of music at Earlham, it was decided in September to give the Messiah; this was more than a month before the agitation began which culminated In this years May Festival. The Earlham chorus numbers eighty-five singers, comprising the majority of the college students interested in music, members of the immediate college community, and a small but very capable number of singers from the city of Richmond. On the other hand a considerable number of the Earlham' singers are members of the Festival chorus. 'This chorus of eighty-five singers is well balanced and will fill the auditorium of the 'Murray theater perfectly. It is interesting to note that until a few weeks ago, none of the rehearsals of the chorus lasted more than one brief hour a week, and in the fall a special Christmas concert was rendered. But this hour represented nothing but the hardest kind of driving work.
