It la .thought that at least one hundred persona from this city Awill attend the Layman's convention to be held at Indianapolis this week. A great deal of interest is manifested In the affair by local laymen and already over fifty persons from here have signified their Intention of attending the

state convention, it is the opinion of

many that this number will be swelled

to one hundred without difficulty. The convention opens Tuesday evening and

will be in aession two days following. Every church in this city will be represented, it is said.

No change is reported in the condition of James Van Dusen, Richmond's

"Grand Old Man," who is now nearing his ninety-eighth birthday anniversary, and who is Bald to be dying at his home on North Thirteenth street. Mr. Van Dusen la probably the oldest living railroad official in the United States. He does not appear to , be afflicted with any particular disease, but his condition is the result of senility. The relatives have been summoned to his bedside. .

PREPARE PROGRAM

The general entertainment committee of the Indiana Municipal league will hold a meeting Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock, in the office of the board of works, for the pufpose of making definite arrangements for the program for the convention which will" be held in Richmond in June. The tentative program drawn up some time ago has been - subjected to' several . changes, many of the speakers finding it impossible to deliver addresses before the convention owing to previous engagements. It is hoped to complete the local end of the program at the meeting Monday evening, when representatives of the different organizations of the city will be present.

110 DRUNKS ALLOWED

- A campaign on the drunks who believe that they can recover from their inebriated condition by visiting .the parks of the city and sleeping off the effects on the park benches, has-been instituted by Superintendent of Parks Ed. Hollern. The practice has been very common in the past for intoxicated parties to spend entire days in-the parks, much to the disgust and discomfort of the women and children visitors. The same consideration which" inebriates have been given, when in parka in the past, will not be a part of the curriculum of Mr. Hollern.

A special session of the legislature-to investigate the alleged orgies In the State House that marked the end of an all night meeting of the last session, was demanded today by Mark A. Sullivan, minority leader of Hudson County, in which Jersey City is located. He made the demand in a letter to Governor Fort. The alleged drinking and presence of women in the state house, has aroused . a storm of indignation throughout the state. .

Each member is privileged to invite ten guests. As this is the last meeting of the year, special effort will be made to make it a success. The program will be made up of the best numbers given at the various morning meetings of the club during the past season. The program committee however is given a hard task, for It is very difficult to select the . best numbers as all the mornings' programs are always excellent. This recital is the most important musical event for the week. The Music Study club Is one of the
