Chicago, April 5. Have you heard about it? It's the biggest scream of a scandal the busybodies in simian society have had In years. What is it? Why, Napoleon has eloped with Sapho deserted his wife Lizzie scad, little Napoleon, Jr., and their relatives and- social acquaintances are just Quivering with excitement as a result. ' Up in monkey society in the Lincoln park zoo Sapho, a member of the Siamese race of monkeys, has been the reigning belle. She had suitors both young and old, which lavished upon her their affections. The many rich gifts of peanuts and sweet things just had the other residents of the winter colony mad with jealously. r $ . No one had paid any attention , to old Napoleon's flirtation with Sapho. He is grizzled with age, and he never paid much attention to his personal appearance. They whisper it about that he even used to go a couple of days without combing his long "Burn sides." Lizzie and ' he had numerous spats' of late, and , it was noted that he didn't seem to care much. A few days ago the whirlers in monkeydom were moved out to sum mer quarters in the big wre house, Sapho had & nest up in the top of the place, while Napoleon, Lizzie and Little Napoleon. Jr., were separated from her by a netting. The other night Napoleon Sr., quietly waited until his spouse had dropped off to sleep oi their perch and then he stealthily began ; tearing at the wire partition. ' y.
